Anyone know where I can make an over the counter payment in to a bank of scotland account ? (not RBS) i don't have online banking and seems bank of scotland have no branches in london ? surely I can walk in to a sister bank and pay in ? how on earth do people pay over the counter in to this bank if there's no branches ?

I bought a card from the mm and it's bank of scotland i always just go in the branch of the sellers bank and pay over the counter don't want to mess the guy around as he even sent the item first.

is there any reason you can't do an internet bank transfer or get someone to do it for you (and pay the money into their account) ?

I have done BoS transactions via Halifax before, not over the counter cash but it might work

Do you have PayPal? I'll make the payment for you if want. You pay me through PayPal and I'll pay into their account for you. :)

nope gave up on paypal years ago very kind offer though sir

Guess i'll pay in to a relatives account and get them to online xfer it

You should probably change your bank if it isn't working for you. I won't bore you with the online/offline transactiion stats so go with a bank which allows you to do what you want to do :)

Can confirm that Bank of Scotland and Halifax are the same group, not RBS and Halifax.

Source - living in Scotland and banking with both banks. You should be able to go into a Halifax and deposit money into your BoS account.

yea i'll give it a crack but i bet they say i have to be a bank of scotland account holder and produce a book or card but we shall see

Can you just instruct your own bank to transfer the money if you have the account number and sort code?

Exit - just seen the above. Worth a quick call to find out surely?

You won't need to be HBoS customer to make a deposit.

I find it bizarre you find it bizarre.

If you want to pay in cash and live in England you probably wouldn't open an account with Bank Of Scotland.

I bet I cant do that in santander with a basic savings account ? i don't have online banking just the most basic account

Maybe not from a savings account as they are slightly different from current accounts.

If that's the case than take a cash withdrawal, hand the cash straight back to the clerk and tell them to pay it into the recipient account.

How is thinking thats bizzare, bizzare ? so a scottish person living in london/england cant pay cash in to his bank of scotland account ? yes that is very backwards in my view.Lets say you just won a load of cash and want to make it safe by paying it in over the counter you cant, yes that's bizzare.

Anyhow thanks for the help am sure i'll end up having to do the online xfer route.
