Hi there im looking to replace the thermal pads on my

gtx 980 reference cooler design

does anyone know what mm thick the thermal pads are?

:)

Thanks

I've just replace them on my GTX 780's while not the same card my research lead to the general rule of thumb of 1mm's for the Vram and 1.5mm for the VRMs. I doubled up on my 1mm pads with my VRM's and got away with it.

I needed two sheets of 1mm X 100mm X 100mm to do everything on both my 780's wit about 1/3 a sheet left

Buy quality material!

I bought some off ebay thinking it was good, it doesn't compress. Leading to my cooler not seating properly as the RAM sat too high with the new thermal pads (if that makes sense?)

EK thermal pads are the best imo, you can get them in 0.5mm, 1mm and 1.5mm thickness.

I had the same issue as TaKeN once with some rather solid blue thermals pads I bought, the EK ones are soft and squishy so even if you get them too thick they'll press down and won't put up any resistance.

Glad to see I'm not the only one :D

Are the EK ones identical to the stock pads? very squishy and easy to remove?

EK ones are nice to work with.

Stock 980 pads are total crap.

Interestingly the pads on the TitanX are different to the 980 and better quality.
