We have been approved for a 6kw solar system, but want to make the most of our roof, and have been told we need a new service line installed to accommodate anything larger.

Weve been quoted £2500, to dig from 1 side of the road to the other and put the line into our house.

Is this about right? And are there any ways of getting the price cut/subsidized if thats so.

Cheers

Your asking a question that my father in law is paid £750 per day to answer ;) Dont expect you will get what your asking here.

Why do you want a 6KW System on your house? Whos paying for it?

Good for your father in law?

We have been approved to 6k, we want 8k.

We are paying for it.

You kinda missed the boat, But if you feel you getting good rates then fair enough.
Is it really worth the money to get 8K over 6K? What panels you getting? Make sure you get the correct ones as they vary in efficiency a lot.

Sounds very reasonable if they are doing the excavation.

You could cut the costs by digging yourself - but you would have to deal with road opening permits and would be responsible for the 2 year guarantee on the reinstatement etc.

(I do this job for WPD's equivalent in my area).

Well there's the equivalent of 4 families living here (3 grown up daughters and their partners, kids) so nobodies using an excess amount. Eldest daughter gets her own place next week taking her partner and 2 kids out of the equation :D
