Looks like Logitech is getting out of the mouse production business

According to a Reuters report, per MCV, the firm will instead focus on video accessories and streaming music, as its wireless Bluetooth speakers are now its best-selling product rage.

This will help offset the “decline in personal computers” and the lower demand for “its mice and keyboards.”

Logitech said it will exit the “low-margin” and “declining computer mouse manufacturing business,” the firm expects “sustained sales growth.”

Its mouse sector saw a sales decline of 26% for the fiscal year ending March 31, while company profits declined 34% overall to $14.5 million and net sales down 4.7% to $467 million.

Now’s the time to buy that Logitech mouse you’ve been eyeing, as they will surely sell-out at various retailers. This will likely mean second tier sellers that use Amazon or eBay will mark the prices up considerably.

Really?

Looking at their website, I honestly can't see what streaming music items they sell? All I see are their Ultimate Ears branded bluetooth speakers which just look like they are overpriced and surely will be lost in the sea of bluetooth speakers from other more well known manufacturers?

Yes the PC Peripheral business probably isn't as profitable as it once was, but I honestly can't see Logitech surviving if all they are selling is bluetooth speakers and tablet and phone accessories - it's just not what comes to mind when you think of their name.

Indeed. Talk about misleading. Are there lots of journalists on this forum?

However… I've never had a low end Logitech keyboard, mouse or combination set. Or knew of many. Every Logitech I've seen/wanted and had since 2003 was always £65 and up. £125 - £140 for the combo sets. That usually was Bluetooth or a form of MX1000/Laser mice.

Was sad to read the first post, glad they're carrying on with the high end gear. I was a bit suspicious considering they've just released their new MX Master, which looks very tempting.

I will now go forth and click "post quick reply" using my Logitech G700, the greatest mouse I have ever had the pleasure of using.

Interesting looking mouse but it's really really chunky. I used to think the MX1000/MX Laser was beefy. Then I see this.

Don't care if they stop making low end as long as the higher end stuff is still there, Logitech are the best mice I have ever used, Razer are pure junk.

Wow Logitech will probably never make a left handed mouse again!

I wish they would make a wired version of the left-handed MX610....

Can I ask the reason why? All my MX 610's had issues with interference however the solution was to move the transponder very close on USB extension cable.

That's a shame if true, I've been using their mice since I started online gaming:

Logitech Pilot
Logitech MX300 (best mouse ever imo)
Logitech G1
Logitech G100s

They really do make the best mice (again imo)

low end stuff sounds good, you can buy £2-3 gaming mice from rain forest and flebay anyhow.

Logitech make some of the best mice especially wireless range got an eye on that new mx master I posted while back :)

I'm a huge fan of large mouses with my spades, I cannot stand small or compact pinchy type mice. The G700 has been incredible for me after now approaching 5 years of daily heavy use. Before that the MX Revolution was great until I snapped the dongle

The G700 is now on its last legs, so I'm thinking the new MX Master might be its replacement, unless anything else big, comfy, wireless and button-y arrives before.

My usb dongle is never more than a metre from the mouse and I regularly get interference (washing machine is the worst), but also I'm getting annoyed with having to change the batteries at really inconvenient times (mid-gaming).....
