I built a PC for a friend of mine a week ago. I built the PC and it booted just fine from the first go and it didn't show any signs of problems. A week later my friend gave me a ring telling me that at first the PC wouldn't start(he tried booting and it eventually started after several attempts.) He shut it down and when he tried to start it again it wouldn't boot at all.

I checked the connections, left one stick of RAM(tried several slots), my PSU tester tells me the PSU is fine but l even tried a different PSU with no luck, bios reset wouldn't help as well. I even re-seated the CPU to no avail. When l press the start button nothing happens. No fans, no nothing. The southbridge heatsink(of the mobo gets warm when l have the PSU switched on which is weird l think. Must be the motherboard or the CPU if l am unlucky.

Here is a list of components:

Mobo: Asrock H97 Pro4
CPU: i3 4330 @stock
RAM: 2x4GB Crucial Ballistic using XMP settings.
PSU: MS-TECH MS-N450-SYS 450W (it only powers an i3 so zip it :P)

Any help would be appreciated :)

Update: Managed to find a motherboard speaker and it doesn't beep when l press the start button. I also tried shorting the power button pins with a screwdriver just to make sure that the power button is not defective. Again no cigar :(

Yes, "Shivy011" the PSU is the one in the link you provided. It's brand new, bought it along with the other parts. I am using an Antec Digital PSU Power Tester: http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=2083&pid=105 to test the PSU.

I have tried building it outside the case on a wooden surface but again nothing. There is a slight chance that the CPU is the culprit, but shouldn't the motherboard's speaker beep if it detected a defective CPU in the socket?

That PSU has a 4 pin connector for CPU and the mobo has an 8 pin header (not usually a problem). Just wondering if you have also tried unplugging it and plugging it into the other 4 pin header instead.

Sorry but what other 4 pin header? The power supply's 4 pin connector can only be connected to the right side of the motherboard header(four right pins of the eight pin connector) and facing the correct way so it can be safely secured against the header's clip.

The bolded is what I meant. I should have said - the other half of the 8 pin header. Anyway that answers my question if it can only fit in one half and not the other.
