Pretty much pan flat for 33 miles! Nice ride though mate, not far off your furthest, well done! >Followed< :D

Ugh. Bombed out of riding home and waiting for the train. My knee feels shot and in a way that feels like it'll be better to not ride on it.

Hope it clears up soon, rest is the best medicine for things like that :(

Preparing for my first 'mini-sportive' tomorrow - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7009231

I'm not looking forward to the 1.5 mile ~4-5% climb towards Pencombe, but I know once heading away from Bromyard and getting to Bishops Froome the big hills are done and I'm heading homewards :)

Gave my drivechain a good clean and given my bike a once over. Cleaned gunk from behind left side (removeable) pedal where the spring thing is and got the pedal back on as physically tight as I can. Hope that clears up the occasional grindy noise and click. Checked chainring bolts, all as tight as I can get them too!

Used the park tools chain checker (great!) and discovered my chain probably needs replacing soon... According to Strava it's done 750 miles, but I guess the winter wasn't that kind to it! :(

At least I know enough how to do it myself now! :D

Getting most of my gear ready now, lights, garmin, VIRB etc charged and ready. Anything I'm likely to have overlooked in my excitement about attending my first 'event'? :p

WHAT?! I've done 3.4k on my sram chain in all weather and it was 0.75 wear?! endless amounts of shifting up/down big/small/big/big etc

I've ended up with a Specialised Echelon II and can't rate it enough as I've got an odd shaped large head! I'd love a Kask/Lazar/Catlike but a helmet shouldn't need to be an expensive purchase - less painful to replace it every couple of years then! :)

Seconding this recommendation. I got one on Wednesday and I'm now at least 56% less dorky looking when compared to my last helmet.

0.75 wear is replacement territory according to most?

SRAM chain for me next! ;)

yup :) 0.75 is when you replace the chain 1mm is too much and has probably worn your drivertrain to a point where a new chain wouldn't "fit" properly!

my brother did over 6k on his single speed.. which resulted in replacement off freewheel + chain! - told him months ago to replace the chain but he ignored until the freewheel got to a point where a new chain was just grinding over it

Ok, band on mechs. I've bought one and it says 31.8mm on it. Will it tighten down enough to fit on a 28.6mm tube or should it have come with a shim? Because if it was supposed to, it didn't.

Jolly good. I think the tube diameter is 31.8mm in any case, so it should be fine.

All my parts for my TDF refurb arrived. The rear mech is second hand and some of the steel bits are a bit rusty and need a scrub. The spring inside is dry, where normally they have a blob of grease on - what sort of grease do I need on there?

If it doesn't, worst comes to worst just wrap some electrical tape around the frame. I did that for the P clips on my seatstays for pannier racks, surprisingly effective.

I got out for an early 17 miles on my single speed this morning, and got back just as the rain started. As I was setting off I noticed by bars were slightly crooked, but didn't bother stopping to fix them. I figured out how it had happened at some lights fairly early on the ride. When I'm pushing off from the lights, I'm putting out such epic torques with my right quads that I'm pulling the brake hood up and twisting the bars round. Better tighten that lot up and figure out a way to start a bit more gently...

Just been out to get some bits and do a whopping 10 miles barely breaking 10mph all the way. Horrible feeling, really hope I feel better soon.

What the hell do I wear today. Its times like these where I feel my cycling wardrobe is not big enough!

I still have days like this! This time of year is terrible for it. Especially going to work, as it's chilly in the morning but nice in the evening. Usually have to carry most of it home.

Anyone got any recommendations for

A) cheap 700x28 tyres for the cx bike.

B) eBay /aliexpress sellers who do stainless steel Allen key bolts that don't rust!

If they are rusting they must be **** grade stainless... buy some from Sheffield instead.
