nice!
that combo will work very well. I have a Marantz 6006 driving CM9's and they're a lovely match. The CM10's will knock spots off you Q900's - but it is a very odd move from KEF Q900 o B&W CM10 - completly different sound. is it that the kefs were not for you? or did you just prefer the B&W's?
I love the Kefs... I've had Kef-only speakers for years. I had iQ7s before the Q900s and the Q900s take that wonderful clarity to a new height with a bit more force and depth behind them.
I fancied something different.
The Kefs match my vacuum tube amp really well... I was surprised considering their sensitivity... but they are a really good match. I've been tempted by some cheaper horn type speakers, but I'm quite happy with this combo as it is.
My previous Denon 2808 (that the SR7009 replaces) struggles to drive the Kefs a bit... really sounds forced and I can just tell that they're not fully utilised.
I could immediately tell the Marantz doesn't have this problem. It's a bit more peaky than I like... but that will mellow with burn-in and it's pushing the uber-clear highs of the Kefs... the CM10s will sync with it better.
Now that it's summer, the Valve amp and Q900s where aiming for the summer room anyway... so they'll power that room and the garden through large sliding door.
The CM10s... I haven't actually heard a pair, I just ordered them because I felt like it. There were others I was considering too... just something about them & their noted contrast to the Kefs, along with matching the amp I've been keen on for a while well, like you mentioned.
