****Official Project CARS thread****

I honestly keep forgetting this and it blows my mind how much of an amazing job they have done.

Project cars started life as a public funded self managed kickstarter of sorts, SMS opened up the game to allow the public to buy into the development for a ROI.

It is still an indie game, but its since managed to find a distributor to sell via retail, but in its heart its still an indie game built on around a 3 million budget over 3 years and a very small UK based development team.

And when you play the game, you'll pick up on little things that shows the passion gone into this game. You'll see and hear when you watch a replay of say donnington or azure coast. Some nice little touches.

And speaking of sounds, I can safely say, this game is wicked in the audio department. It sounds amazing. i could no longer play GT6 due to this game, and its wicked sounding GT cars.

Can't wait. What licences did they manage to pick up (not sure how these things work) ?

E.g, we've got Donnington in the game, will there be the Dunlop tyre bridge on the back stright or is it a tyre bridge with no sponsor on it ?

The tracks from what i've seen appear to display correct sponsorship, so the dunlop tyre bridge is all correct and present.

They also got a good bunch of branding for tires, even Aston have GT liveries, Lotus is fully branded.

they didn't get suzuka in japan though, so they changed this track a little bit and put fake sponsorship around the billboards, but silverstone is fully licensed... If in game it has the real track name, then its going to be pretty much like the real track. I think it was only suzuka they failed to get a license for..

i think they had issues with yokohama tires as well, as they changed the name in the tire walls for these, and called them yirahoma or something silly.

But michilin, dunlup etc are fine. They also got BMW racing liveries, official audi le mans with BOSCH logos etc. they did pretty well securing plenty - but some stuff they went for they didn't get.

Zandervoot I think failed. And they got indy and oval but didn't have time to include into the base game, so this is DLC

you'll recognise a lot of brands when you race, but also seem some made up names..

That's good, cheers.

Not fussed about Indianapolis tbh, the oval is fine but the inner road track is boring, imo.

The shifter has to be purchased separately.

Yeah saw that. While I would love to have a go with the old touring cars with a proper H gate most of the racing would be done with the paddles so no point getting the shifter and without the shifter no point having 3 pedals. So the T300RS would be plenty for me but still a lot to spend just for P Cars.

Edit: I think I will wait until it is out and see how I get on with the DS4 first.

The T500RS the last time I looked isnt an offical PS4 accessory, so dont expect ubiquitous support across the platform - I wouldnt recommend you getting it...

Its up to the dev to support it on the PS4 just like the Logitech and Fanatec wheels. It doesnt have OS support like the T300RS...

Sorry. Have I missed something?

Are you suggesting the T500RS doesn't work with Project Cars?

I've not used a pad to play a racing game since the end of the PS2 generation. The wheel makes the experience smooth and precise. I could never...... I will never. Go back to using a pad to play such games lol.

saying that, Playing with a pad won't be impossible. I guess the only downside is that the driving experience will very digital / on and off like.

I would love a wheel but just don't have the room for a wheel setup:(. Saying that I still find racing games fun with just a pad.

Sorry just seen this, nope you are right SMS put in the effort to ensure the T5000RS was supported for PCars, but as its a legacy wheel theres no guarantees it supported on future PS4 driving games.

Assumed you knew this as an owner - heres the details:

T500 RS: PlayStation®4 compatibility(*)

(*)This decision is upon each game developer and will therefore vary from racing game to racing game.

In the event of upward compatibility with PS4™ racing games, the T500 RS racing wheel will only be recognized in the game, and not in the console’s menus. Please note that the “SHARE” and “PS” functions will not work on the wheel in PS4™ racing games. Nevertheless you can still use your gamepad for these 2 specific functions

Yeah why Im on the fence with PCars, just not interested in playing a sim without a wheel

From what other have said playing the PC version with a pad is that it's one of the best experiences they've had with a pad driving a sim. Apparently mode 2 in the options is best, but like all good games it takes time and effort to master.

The VVV video mentioned the modes but what are they? Tried searching but couldn't find anything. I assume it is either a button layout or default difficulty setting?
