Well i have a little app that keeps an eye on ram usage (have it live on my keyboard screen too) and GTA V i can achive 97% usage of my 8GB 2666 ram. So is it holding back on filling the rest ? I also run teamspeak in the background plus the usual antivirus crud etc.

What are people running these days? I have always preached 8gb as being plenty but im thinking now not so.

Do i now get another 8gb kit or replace with a 16gb kit ? As my ram is not longer avaliable (only checked overclockers tbh) and i dont fancy mixing brands

Ok fair enough, any particular 16gb kit you would suggest ? Im guessing best to remove my existing 8gb kit? Would like to stick to the 2666 stuff if i can but tbh i did not notice any performance increase over 1600

Can't see any disadvantage getting another kit. You should be fine :) I recently bought a second kit of the 2666mhz 16gb to go with the existing kit I bought last year. No problems whatsoever running both kits together 2400 10-12-12-31-1.

I just adjusted mine to 10-12-12-31 @ 2400 mhz, Seems fine. Annoyingly overclockers only do the 8gb kit in the "frost edition" im assuming the only difference is that its white ?

Yeah just a different colour heat spreader on the frost edition to the regular kit. shame they don't have the regular black kit. Might be worth asking in the CS section as it seems they're not always listed. For a while the 16gb kit was missing then it reappeared at a cheaper price :)

I've been thinking its time to go to 16GB as well.

I'm using a 4790k / Z97 Asus Hero with:

Think it would be OK to just add another 2 of the same sticks? Guess being able to run 4 sticks at 2400 mhz will depend on the memory controller, but yer.. What do you guys think?

Should be fine :)

I'm using 8GB and GTA is running fine. I have seen it creep up to 7GB usage but I shut everything else down before gaming.

I would definitely say if building new go for 16GB though.

Interestingly my GTA is running fine and i get a solid 60fps, However when im bolting through the map at high speed i seem to hit "loading areas" where it goign from 60fps then rapidly down to 30ish fps for a second or two then back up to 60fps again. I was wondering if this had anything to do with it not having enough Ram as its the only thing when running the game that is near capacity.
