*** The Official Dark Souls II Thread ***

Please fix the hit detection if you havent already FROMs B team - hope those old trailers with the better lighting and textures turns up too :D

ps3ud0

I passed on the PS3 version so I'm excited for this plus all the added DLC. And yeah agreed on the lighting I hope they implement what they originally intended. Fingers crossed!

I loved this when it came to ps3, played through once then got the pc version!

For a laugh i tried revisiting the ps3 one and i was shocked! How did i play that for 50hours! It felt horrid

So with this in mind, if i rebuy on ps4 it needs to match the 60fps of the pc version or ill have to pass. Im not usual that fussed about it but the difference felt jarring and going back would be impossible

YAARRRGHHHHHHHH!

Please for the love of all that is holy can someone tell me how to equip an item to my quickslot. For some reason I am unable to assign Lifegems to either the top or bottom quick slots on the PS4 version of Dark SOuld 2: SINs. This has resulted in multiple deaths and multiple instances of almost throwing my controller at the TV.

Pressing up or down on the D pad does not cycle through items, and I cannot see a way to equip to a slot from the inventory screen.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - OMG I have just seen how to do it, I didn't realise the first Inventory screen was a belt slot... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SO MANY DEATHS....

Man this game has to be the hardest and yet most satisfying title I have played in a long time. The first 12 hours are brutal as you are completely clueless and know nothing about the game, enter new areas and fight enemies, die a lot, repeat and do a little better but die a lot again, etc etc, until finally you learn how to best an area and monster and get decent enough equipment and souls in order to progress a little further to the next bonfire, and then push further through the next areas.

I'm playing a Warrior build with shield and War Axe (or Battle Axe, can't remember) as primary weapon (buff it up at the blacksmith when you get access to him). It also helps massively when you finally gain access to a crossbow and no longer have to get up close to wear an enemy down.

I eventually got to the first real boss (The Last Giant) and defeated him, and finally now feel like I am able to do more than fart in the general direction of an enemy. That is after about 20 gruelling hours or so of play and a hell of a lot of dying. Phew.

I'm enjoying playing through this again. I'm still un-decided on what build to really go for but have already knocked out 6-7 bosses.
I started as a dual-wielding type for the first time but didn't enjoy it so just ended up with a standard halberd which to be honest is carving it's way through everything.

Only thing it's no good for is PvP - it's quite pathetic for that.

I want to go for something more novelty - but the builds tend not to get fleshed out fully until the end of the game. So maybe I'll just go standard and try a more imaginative build for NG+.

One thing I've noticed though is that shields hold you back as a player which is a great mechanic IMO.
I used to play Souls games with a shield but now my left hand is just empty if I'm not 2-handing my weapon.

Playing without a shield forces you to learn quicker and now I'm never even getting hit - apart from the cheap areas where they have people shooting arrows while you fight.

The enemy placements in the PS4 version make so much more sense - it feels like a more coherent experience. The original release felt very thrown together and disjointed and this has addressed a lot of that. So well worth the £30 to experience it - certainly is the definitive edition.

so i picked this up off a workmate for £20 today (was going to pick up wolfenstein or Farcry 4 but it seemed to good at this price), wont get chance to play it until tomorrow but im not sure what to expect.

i got it at launch for PS3 but i didnt enjoy it at all, i only played for a few hours but it seemed too cheap compared to the original, but this time i am going in with much lower expectations as i was really expecting a lot on original release.

im looking forward to it but after playing through bloodborne it will be interesting getting back to the slower more defensive souls combat. and worse case scenario i can sell it on for my money back and just pick up a different game.

How the hell did this game manage to ship with the weapon degrading bug in it?? It's soooooooooo frustrating!

The bug is really annoying like.

It hasn't affected me personally because the game also throws upgrade materials at you with tonnes of Slabs (I have 12 of them without farming any at all) so you can very easily have loads of maxed out weapons halfway through the game.

But yes it's pretty shocking that it's there given how it was there on PC too

Just picked this up for £4 (after a couple of trade ins) on the Xbone. Will be my first every experience of a Souls game.... :p

Should I hold off starting it until the weapon bug is fixed or just plough on anyway? I have no real knowledge of the game thus my expectations are non existant. If I don't like I will just sell it on / trade it in.

It bothered me, maybe because I had played it before.

You should be ok to play it, just remember to keep a couple of weapons and switch them when it says it is at risk.

The bug never bothered me until I tried the Dragon boss at the end of the DLC. 3-4 hits from my weapons and the durability was gone.

I somehow still managed to do it 1st time without any repair powders as thankfully I had 6 weapons with me at the time. At least it made for an intense fight!!

My mate said this was £25 on the store so I went out and bought a PSN gift card with some vouchers I had lying around - turns out the sale ended 2 weeks ago!! lol

What a waste, won't be anything else digital I want for a LONG time.
Always check something yourself...!
