So many Mobo's, which to get?

 This smiley sums it up for me. :D

Unfortunately my motherboard or GPU died. I can't really test out which it is. So I've decided to just upgrade/exchange both and be done with it. Now I am wondering what to get though.

I bought the below system from OcUk in 2011. The CPU, Cooler, RAM and Mobo was a bundle and assembled/setup (OC) by OcUk at the time.

Case: Cooler Master HAF X
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz
Cooler: Corsair A50 CPU Cooler
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 590 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Mobo: Asus P8P67 Intel P67
RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W V2 High Performance Power Supply
HDD: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 SSD (x2, +2 Sata storage drives)

From what I can tell, the CPU/RAM is fine, so I'd like to keep that and not spend too much on upgrades. I'm thinking of just replacing the GPU and Motherboard. I've kinda picked the GTX 970 for the GPU replacement, but got lost with the Motherboard. I know I need a 1155 socket, but there are like so many chipsets and things! :(

I'm planning my wedding at the moment, so would prefer to not break the bank too much :D Is it feasible to just replace GPU/Mobo, or would it be more realistic to replace the whole thing?

Yep, you'll need an 1155 socket motherboard, which are no longer made. Z77/Z68/P67 chipset if you want to keep an overclock.

Get searching ebay/rainforest/ocuk bargain section, basically anywhere and everywhere, as the good deals on 1155 boards are rare.

It's even worse trying to find an 1155 mATX z77 board, there's literally none about. :(

I've had a quick scrounge around the usual places and can't see anything that strikes me as a bargain.

Are you 100% that your current board is dead, if it is OK I'd say stick with that for the time being unless you really want to upgrade to the current CPU's?

Try removing the GPU and all but one stick of ram to see if the computer will boot into windows stably.

Good point - OP - try running off the onboard GPU, it might just be the GPU that has died.

I don't think p67 has igpu display ports?

I wouldn't sellup either the gains are minimal imo,try and whittle it down, either borrow another gpu to test with first or try and bag a z68 or z77 mb

try clearing the cmos aswell, leave out the mb battery for 30 minutes then try

You're right, they don't. Doh.

Thanks for all the feedback! I remembered I still have my old PC down in storage (old alienware bucket with 2 8800 gtx's). I plundered that for a GPU to test it out, and it's all working perfectly :D. Just need a new GPU now to resurrect this machine properly. :)

Thanks again all!
