Well my G5 is now 7 years old and well its looking a bit sad these days. However i LOVE it ! it fits my hand so well and the texture has amazing grip. I dont use any of the weights or anything but i do need another mouse. Im so impressed its lasted this long tbh with no sign of it going to stop working. Its just worn out with the pattern wearing away etc.

So what do people recommend these days as a brand and model ? Is Logitech still as good as it was when i got the G5 (7 years of heavy use is imo very good)

Budget wise there is none tbh (im not going to spend £250 on a mouse but as long as it does not creep into 3 figures then the Mrs wont notice ;)

I've gone from the G5 to G500 and then G502. The 502 is quite a departure in shape from the previous ones but IMO is actually the best of the 3 by quite some way. It's really a fingertip/claw design rather than palm if that was what you were after though.

If you like the feel and fit of the G5, the G500 would be an ideal replacement as it has an identical feel to the older model. Went this route myself when my G5 started to fail.

I made the switch from a G5 to G500 but got a Razer Naga which I love

The G500 didn't even get more than a weeks use but its a nice mouse though - and cheap

Im definately a palm guy with fairly large hands too, cant stand low profile or small mice

Just seen the G500s i quite like the look of that, any reason not to get this over the standard g500 ? Think i will stick with this shape tbh good shout guys

How is the fk2 model when not gaming? Im currently using logitech mx518 and find the shape perfectly comfortable for normal use. Can you rest your palm when using the zowie?

I have the EC1, I game, browse, point and click on stuff.

Its sound as a pound.

I'd wait for the Zowie ZA's to come out. That's one of my gripe with Zowies. The EC series are not comfortable for me, the FKs are too small. The ECs kinda force you into a specific ergonomic grip that just doesn't work for me. I have the same issue with the Alcor. The right side of the mouse drops off too aggressively.

Ambi-stype is what I prefer by far. Better support and easier to lift, but the other zowies (FK), are small and too shallow to give a good palm rest. Great mice overwise (I have FK 2013, FK1).

The ZA look to be more like my cup of tea. Like the old WMO, Intellimouse 1.1, Sensei, even Deathadder, Intellimouse 3.0, MX518. Even though the last three are meant to be ergonomic, they are less aggressive and more accomodating in that respect compared to the EC1. The MX510 / MX518 are the perfect palm grip, ergo mice imo, while the WMO and the Intellimouse 1.1 are great for me, which is kinda semi-palm grip nowadays, and they are also very light, and well balanced.

Many Zowie fanboys, me especially, have been clamoring for a bigger, 'fatter' ergonomic mouse, like a WMO / Intellimouse rip-off. the ZA12 / ZA11 look to be just that. I'll wait for hands-on reviews though.

Got sent a G502 a week or so ago, it is epic. A lot better then my G500. But if your G5 is still working, keep on using it a bit and get the G502 when it's on sale, or maybe wait for the G502s or G504 or what ever they call their next mouse.
