PH has an interesting high level comment about politics at VAG:

Apparently, Piech has been binned, in favour of Winterkorn.

For ref, Piech is clearly well known for a whole bunch of incredible cars, including the 917 and Veyron.
Wiki lists Winterkorn as having a background in metallurgy and QA and having been a person who assisted in bringing the new Beetle to market.

I can't help but think that my impression is that one is at heart and engineer with little tollerence for mediocrity and massive expections.
Then there's Winterkorn who's somehow managed to drag Audi into a very strong market position based upon nice interiors and plaform sharing.

Thoughts?

Piech is responsible for muco of the recent success of VAG, itw ill be interesting to see what happens next, seems like it got a little too political and Piech has been forced out due to his own 'pushiness'. He is 78yo though, way past retirement age.

I reckon big changes will happen at the Group now Piech is gone.

I reckon Seat's on the to-go list. It loses money and is struggling to find it's brand identity.

They won't go into F1 because its a moneypit and their focus currently is solely on pitting Toyota as the #1 car manufacturer in the world, so they will just churn out lots of bland turds until then.
