Hey guys, I'm looking to build myself a bit of a dream gaming rig after having coped with a Q6600 / GTX 580 build for way longer than I should its finally time to treat myself a bit.

I'm looking to use this for heavy gaming, streaming and some video editing with a view to future proofing as much as possible since the next time I will foreseeable be able to do a full new build again will be many years down the line (minor upgrades may be possible). I have about £2,000(ish) to spend and can prob go a maximum of £200 or so above that.

I do not need optical's since I never use them, I do not need a monitor as I plan to buy a ROG 27" as separate purchase down the line unless some of these freesync monitors turn out to be awesome?, I do not need an OS and I'm fine for storage as I intend to use the M.2 for the OS and SSDs I already own for programs I regularly use. I'm fine for Paraphernalia as I have a G600 mouse, MK-85 Qpad keyboard and a Siberia v2 headset, however I could use some speakers!

I'm happy to build the system myself and I'm looking for a nice clean finish so cable management is a thing. I have kinda put myself a build together after spending a lot of time looking at 4790k options I decided to try a overkill X99 setup but if you think you can get more for my money let me know about it!

I was going to put a H110i GT on this but they seem to have all been recalled? and given the option I would have gone with 16gigs (2x8) Kingston Fury Black's but that was not an option on the store :) I cant see myself been able to afford a second 980 so that's why I went with the 5820k as opposed to the 5930k, I plan to OC a reasonable amount.

5820K price just shot up by £36.

If you'd be okay with 16GB RAM as originally planned, and a motherboard that's apparently as good for high overclocks (depending on chip lottery) as the Rampage V Extreme, then you can fit a Titan X or 2 x 980s which will benefit gaming even more. Not that you'd need to for a ROG Swift, but you say you want to futureproof and asked for any bang for buck improvements, and in that respect yes it would benefit more than 32GB memory going by your statement: "heavy gaming... some video editing".

As far as I'm aware a 5820K is fine for two video cards. For three you'd want the 5930K. PSU a bit overkill (especially in the Titan X spec if you don't add a second card) but the second spec would have nice headroom even if seriously overclocked (280mm AIO to help with that). 10-year warranty on it.

And the PSU comes with all-black braids already (unless you're unlucky and get an older version with the PCI-E cables in red braids, and you can just get some extensions then). Case is excellent like just about everything Phanteks touches right now and has PSU shroud for elegance and cable management.

As for speakers, I just added a 5.1 that would fit in the max £2,200 budget. Not really an audiophile so look for better advice there.

Thermal paste comes pre-applied on cooler.

I'd probably go with the Titan X to keep it more future-proof (12GB Vram overkill). It will fly at 1440p and there is no game that will even come close to maxing memory. And I'd keep the 1000W PSU just in case a second Titan X lands in your lap somehow lol. Or lower it to a good quality 650/750W (£80-90) if you'd like to squeeze something else into the spec like even better speakers or different fancy memory like Avexir Core Orange LED or Avexir Blitz Orange if you can find it.

I cry a little inside when I see a SOC Champion with 2400MHz RAM:(

You do not need these extra cables as thats just extra "bling" but notice that the corsair ones dont include a 24pin mains cable which you have to buy separately.

Have you put any thought to what might be coming in the near future (June-ish time) from AMD OP? Mostly the 390 and 390X might be of interest, unless you are in a hurry to buy? These should support the freesync monitors too, though being technically slightly worse than Gsync monitors the comparable monitors also seem a decent chunk cheaper

Thank you so much for the input so far guy's that is great.

Shivy011 - I'm 100% open to AMD as an option and while I'm looking to buy anytime from now to the next 3 month's or so my system is not getting any younger :P Had the graphics card spin up to 100% and shut the pc down a few times now so I suppose its day's are numbered.

The idea of having a Titan never crossed my mind but when you consider the 980 TI is likely to be 6gig maybe a Titan is the way forward to get the most for the money, I would be pretty ok with getting lesser RAM for the moment and looking at that as an upgrade path in January to shift some money about to pay for the Titan but it may push back my plan to get the monitor to enjoy all the glory of it, still better to have it sat waiting than to pay for a 980 ill need to re-sell to afford a Titan later I guess.
