Which one is better? I prefer the slot layout of the UD4, it seems the X99S has less.

Better RAM support, has a version of the OC socket so extra pins that if you know what to do you can get the uncore/cache up higher than a boggo socket.

Yes, activates the extra pins so you can apply extra voltage to the cpu that controls the cache/uncore, more voltage options appear in the BIOS when you flip it.

I noticed the UD4P has the EATX form factor and one missing CPU_OPT fan header.

30.5cm x 26.4cm

vs the UD4

30.5cm x 24.4cm.

Not really to be honest.

Anyway I had issues with my UD4 upon very first boot so looks like I'm going to find a replacement.

i dont see any reason why you would go for asus x99 when asus x99/usb3.1 are available at same price..

although until theres been some confirmation on the nature of problem/fix of the reported usb issues in asus, id be hesitant to jump into the old or new generation asus
