****Official Project CARS thread****

The VVV video mentioned the modes but what are they? Tried searching but couldn't find anything. I assume it is either a button layout or default difficulty setting?

The modes are sensitivity and responsive input.

Mode 2 is good, mode 1 is very twitchy I found. Try all three and you'll find one you get on better with.

Project cars gamepad support is now very good. Took a long time to get it where it is today. Its better then most gamepad controlled racers and I think it's better then drive club which is actually not a fair comparison as drive club is an arcade game but anyone who is buying project cars for ps4 and played drive club , then this'll give you an idea.

And, all cars in project cars behave different.

Has there been any mention of oval racing in Project Cars

A few pages back wee were discussing about Indianapolis Motor Speedway coming at a later date. Also, I'm sure I've seen Stock Cars (NASCAR) in a video but no other Oval tracks.

I mentioned a few posts back that they have the full NASCAR licence.

From memory there were a quite a few well known ovals in PC builds of the game from a while back. My guess is it will be DLC.

Cheers for the info as love Oval racing was in the top 30 on Forza 4 with legit times

ffs hearing bad things about how overly twitchy the Xbox ONE version is when using pad compared to others :( please be good please be good.

Surely that's like any driving game when playing with a pad ? It's never going to be smooth unless you master the thumb stick control and roll it rather than push it.

He means the XO version specifically seems twitchier than say the PS4. I think a VVV video alluded to this, but that was code that wasn't as advanced as the PS4 version.

I'm fairly sure at launch they will feel the same, cant see any reason why they wouldn't.

Ok disclaimer...

If anyone buys the game after reading my posts and hates it. Erm I'm not available for comment..

Please be good on ps4 otherwise I'm going to have an angry mob after me... I did say. A few pages back that game isn't perfect and some aspects needs more work..

I'm sweating now lol

I don't think people need to worry.

I've been playing this on PC from the beginning. In all that time it's been good, bad and so so.

The builds I'm playing now, which is more or less what people will be playing on release is very good. I have been playing exclusively with a T500 wheel, but I can tell you it is better than either GT5 or GT6. Both of which I've played on PS3 with a T500 wheel and enjoyed them a lot.

The graphics are better, the sound is better, the physics are better, the FFB is better, the AI is better. Plus there are more cars on track in races, variable weather and a full day/night cycle.

Game has had its ups and downs...

I like it, ploughed hours into the PC version.. I think the sound, graphics and ai are good, and in the last few months the gamepad support really started to come along..

I have no idea how well it'll review. I doubt it'll get critical acclaim but provided it gets reviewed by those interested in motor sport it should fair well..

Cause, its all subjective anyhow....

I don't think sims review well at all, especially by Joe Public who moan it is like a crappy NFS game. Personally seeing peoples testimonials and plenty of videos online it looks great and should have many hours of enjoyment from it. Even if it isn't perfect (which tbh what game is) it will be enough to have a decent racer on ps4 :)

Why does the guy from Team VVV say Xbox copy has been delayed (at 5:53) ?

Edit to add: I'm craving Xbox footage and info...sadly there is little/none yet...only slightly worrying with the game due out end of next week

Well there was a twitch stream a few days ago on x1 with gamepad around California highway. Tbh I'll not mince words. It looks a little rough in places, I wasn't sure if it was the stream or the game but it was tearing badly in the upper top half of the screen and the cars didn't look to be rolling on their suspension well, it looked like a very early PC build , I was not overly impressed ...

But then all the ps4 footage I've seen has had screen tear under load etc... I think all footage is early builds and it's my understandjng the render team at SMS are still working hard on optimisations and there will be day 1 patches..

So any footage right.now might not be final representing of final game...

I've watched the video. I think he means SMS have delayed providing him a copy to test , he doesn't even have the final ps4 build.

SMS are still working on all sorts , I dont think the product being stamped to disc is finished Tbh.

Sad fact of today's games... Released to manufacturing and then whilst being pressed to disc work done to prepare patches..

Andy Garton project manager on project cars over on WMD has pretty much confirmed that their accepted that screen tearing isn't something they will be fixing as they find it acceptable..

I however do not and I'm now almost going to cancel my ps4 pre order, I'm trying to find out more. But I am very disappointed with his responses to questions about console performance and visual tearing. Mostly noted in vvv ps4 coverage...

But how do you expect them to address it? It seems the game is taxing the home consoles as it is, so unless they dumb it down visually (would we really want that?), is there really anything they can do?

Do the graphics options you can change potentially not cure some of this?

Only way to know if it will affect you adversely is to play it yourself and not take someone else's word. Luckily it's never something I've personally let bother me unless it was completely OTT.

Reduce the amount of cars is probably the first option if they won't drop res/graphics settings.

One thing that is curious is the additional graphical options, while nice to have, do affect performance. I don't think the average console player will appreciate that when they whack on, say, higher FOV...

ps3ud0
