Guys, if I’m missing something please tell me. A little google showed me I’m not the only one to face this issue. I mostly using my phone for music via the 3.5mm jack in the car, gym and out and about.

Basically when I plug ANY headset in it simply doesn’t work. Only a tiny proportion of jacks work and when they do only one speaker works.

Whats the best thing I can do? Contact EE and claim under manufactures warranty, terrible phone considering their usp is the music player.

I've had a Xperia Z2 for over a year and have had no issues on any headset I've used with it (and yes sound comes out of both channels).

Why claim on the insurance? Get EE or Sony to deal with the issue.

At least the prize for the most over dramatic thread title of the year has been settled relatively early.

Calm your ****.

I've seen absolutely loads of people having the same issues. Those who's phone is still playing sound, is that using the original headphones supplied?

And no dont want to go through repair as everytime i've done that in the past its only ever temp fixed something

My girlfriend has a Xperia Z which was plagued with issues that were never fixed. In the end Vodafone 'escalated' it and she got a replacement Z1 FOC. It's been faultless to be fair. Perhaps see if EE will do the same? I know Vodafone offer a 2 year guarantee with their phones.

Never had any issues with the headphone jack on my Z2 with both 3 and 4 pole jacks. You're being a bit dramatic... It's probably just got a faulty port, get replacement from EE. You should be able to get an on-the-spot replacement.

My brother had his Z1C for over a year now with no hardware problems at all. And he's been through 3 sets of earphones with them, all 4 pole. You might've been just unlucky, it should still be under insurance so better claim on that and they'll repair it for free.

It's likely just bad luck. Sony's turnaround is about week although it can be quicker.

This is unfortunately incorrect - instant replacement is not available unless it's sub 14/28 days (network depending) and the Sony fix team are going to be a LOT quicker than going through a shop. The only advantage a shop will offer is they will be able to provide you with a standin (network dependant).

This is where imo Apple excels over the rest, having the ability to walk in and walk out with a replacement (albeit refurb or new handset).

As said i had a replacement handset within 7 days from Sony so it wasn't too bad (white spots on my Z3 screen)

Wasn't sure how long the OP had the phone for, so thought i'd suggest it just in case. In that case i would do what others have suggested and get it repaired through Sony.

Anecdotally a friend of mine sent his faulty Xperia Z back and that took over a month to be repaired. Hopefully his was an exception rather than the norm.

Check for fluff/dirt from your pocket inside the socket. I had exactly the same issue with my Z1 and that was the cause. I used an opened up paperclip and hooked it out and it was back working as normal.
