I am thinking of upgrading my PC over to Intel, would i notice a good difference if i went from an FX-8320 to an Intel Xeon E3-1220 V3? I have already ordered a Z97 mobo.

From an FX83, you're going to want an i7 to even justify the upgrade.

I'm very vocal in choosing i5's/i7's over FX83's, but it's a different story upgrading.

For that budget I'd say that an overclocked 4690K is the only worthwhile upgrade. You'd might as well wait for Skylake now though.

Seeing as you already have the motherboard just get the 4690K and clock it or 4790K if you have the cash, you can always sell it and upgrade to Broadwell later.

The alternative would be to return your motherboard under the Consumer Contracts Regulations and play the waiting game.

Oh :p

I am thinking an i5-4690K for the time being. Want something that won't bottleneck my GPU's in most games, i'm not after anything super high spec.

What games were you playing?

Broadwell (If it's still coming out) will be out soon, I'd just get whatever i7 of that and clock it.

I would do this. As he said earlier most moves aren't exactly an upgrade till your getting an i7.

Crysis 3, GTA5, LoL, Skyrim, Homeworld Remastered. I'll probably get a 4790k, I don't doubt that Broadwell will be good but not sure it'll be worth the high price.

I played Crysis 3 with a 7990 having great performance. The FX would bottleneck dual cards though so an I7 is the way forward. If you get the Broadwell you wouldnt need to upgrade for a wee while! ;)

My 8320 performs ok mostly in Crysis 3, however there are some scenes which really hammer the CPU. Along with Homeworld Remastered which does also suffer a bit during big ship battles.
