Looking to upgrade my ageing 6870 but stuck on which of these cards to get. Read reviews and still no further forward, with upcoming drivers, 3GB instead of 2, lower power, new tech instead of old etc. Only goin to use upto a 22'' monitor,19'' at the moment and with directx 12 coming out soon wanted one of these 3 but which one...Thanks.

Do you now the resolution of the monitor that you have and will be getting.

The front page GTX 770 deal is pretty damn good.

Performance wise there not a huge amount between them. The 960 is the most energy efficient and the 280 probably the most powerful. If you're just gaming at 1080p i would go for the cheapest.

One thing to bear in mind, if at some point you are considering either a Gsync or freesync monitor for gaming, that rules out the 280, leaving the 285 or the 960.

Not be goin anything over 1080p I'd imagine. Did have a 23'' VX2370Smh-LED ips monitor which lasted 4 weeks before going grainy, so stuck with my old va1912w till I decide on another new one,not sure about Gsync or freesync hence why I cant decide .

Also if you have a slower CPU you're better of with the Nvidia card. Their DX11 optimization is currently leagues ahead. This won't matter at high res or if you have a fast oc cpu, but for a lower end cpu it's better to go with Nvidia in dx11 games currently.

As for 280 having 3 GB memory, it's probably not going to make a lot of difference, you're likely to run out of performance before it proves useful. Same goes for 4 GB 960. It might makes sense for SLI, but going low end SLI in itself doesn't make much sense. It's always better to just buy a faster single gpu (with the exception of things like Titan X).

I do play the battlefield series and usual COD games but not fussed on video or MMO'S or streaming if that helps..i run a i5 3570k on an asrock Z77..

If you care about power use go for the 960.

If you care about price go for 285 as it's a real bargain now.

If you care about visual quality settings I'd get a 280 due to the extra memory.

If you care about value for money then the 770 is the clear winner as it's stronger than the other 3 cards (it matches a 280X).

Oh no...another card..didn't think about the 770. cheers guys ill ponder over it while having a beer at my local.. thanks..

Good timing with this thread, I've got a 6870 also and I'm thinking I could do with an upgrade. The 280 initially caught my eye but the 960 is quite appealing as I'm just using a standard Dell PSU, so I don't really want anything too demanding.
