When SMS started WMD to fund pCARS there were different tiers to invest at. Which basically determined how often you got new builds, but also a discount on the game on release.
Off the top of my head it was something like.
Junior Members cost €10 and this gave you monthly builds to test and €10 discount.
Team Members cost €25 and this gave you weekly builds to test and €25 discount.
Full Member cost €50 and this gave you weekly builds to test and a full copy of the game.
Senior Members cost €100 and this gave you weekly builds to test and a full copy of the game. Plus you can watch meetings.
Managers cost €1000 and this gave you twice weekly builds to test and a full copy of the game. Plus you can attend meetings.
Senior Manager €25,000 and this gave you weekly builds to test and a full copy of the game. Plus you can attend meetings.
Plus everyone above junior had an opponent named after them, also the two manager tiers also had in game ad boards and livery ads. As well as invites to track days.
Everyone with a toolpack will receive fees as a percentage of their investment once the game makes a profit.
SMS estimate that the game will break even at a total of 250,000 copies.
Ball park figures suggested a four fold return on 1 million total sales.
That's total sales across all platforms, not per platform.
