****The Official The Avengers: Age of Ultron Thread ****

It was OK. More of the same IMO.

Question: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are also in one of the XMen films right? I thought Avengers and XMen were separate entities... Is it explained anywhere why some characters have the right to cross over?

Good god.... Just seen what Whedon has been putting up with on twitter. Well, no longer as he's closed his account.

I'm guessing, that being a man made me miss something in the movie that all feminists will be *and seemingly are* up in arms about.

Barking. Just plain barking.

They got away with it as they aren't mutants in Avengers, they got their powers from the sceptre I believe. Disney/Marvel aren't allowed to use mutant powers in their films.

As far as the movies are concerned, the twins you see in Avengers are nothing to do with characters in X-Men.

Thanks. :)

If so, then why have the same names?! So unimaginative!

There's the rape joke (prima notca), Black Widow calling herself a monster after saying she cant have kids, and she has to be saved by the males in the film..

Basically nutters looking for anything to rant about, but well that's twitter!

Kind of ironic that he called out the trailer for Jurassic World and has now been chased off twitter by nutty 'feminists' though.

Same. Saw it in 2d and genuinely considering making the effort to see it in IMAX 3d before its too late. That thought hasn't crossed my mind in a long, long time.

Speaking as someone who did not care much for the first Avengers and found it boring and badly paced, while the comic book geeks raced to the internet to genuflect about how it was the best piece of cinema ever, I absolutely loved AoU. Well written, well paced, good character development, beautifully made.

Imo, its just 'cool' to be 'meh' about this film, just as its 'cool' to hate Batfleck without seeing the final product. Its a shame because the community should be rewarding excellent film making, but they all too often tend towards the counter-culture, which will weaken future products and give us more superman.

There was a lot that wasn't clearly explained, like Thor disappears for a portion of the film to go into a pool which isn't fully explained.
The film made no clear indication of what Scarlett Witches power was.

The action scenes generally were great apart from the opening, but very little outside of that could constitute as 'beautiful'

The monster bit they have a slither of a point, but not the prima notca.
That joke would have gone over the vast majority of the audience, myself included.

In the comic world both Scarlet Witch and Quiksilver have been part of the Avengers so ther rights are a little murky. X-men are allowed to use them but not mention the Avengers and Avengers are allowed to use them but not mention them being mutants or children of Magneto or anything to do with the X-men.

How ridiculous. People will moan about anything these days.

They got away with it as they aren't mutants in Avengers, they got their powers from the scepter I believe.

The theory is that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are 'Inhumans', however they had their powers activated by the scepter (rather than terrigen crystals), and that they are decedents of humans experimented on by the Kree (blue guys from GotG) millenia ago (they retconned their mutant origins).

You see more about this stuff in Agents of Shield, and the Inhumans storyline will start making a bigger impact on the Marvel universe as time goes on.

The Inhumans movie is set for Nov 2018, smack bang between Infinity War Pt1 and Infinity War Pt2:

Does anybody think that by the time we get to the next Avengers film, people will be disinterested in the whole franchise?

I dont think its a case of keeping the quality up, its more a case of TPTB have realized they are onto a good thing and are now saturating their own market which in turn will cause quality to drop, money will drop as a side effect, then the whole thing will burn out...

Seriously, you think it;s the best movie ever?!

Just got back from seeing it and thought it was really, really average. The first one was easily more enjoyable.
The CGI at the beginning was really poor for some reason, Ulton was REALLY boring and non threatening, far too many jokes shoehorned in with only a few working well.

However, the action scenes were pretty decent.

One other thing that really got on my nerves was Quicksilver fighting the robots. Yes he's fast but he seems to punch the robots and beat them, he hasn't got superhuman strength!

Good sum up. Especially the last part. I did wonder how he could do that

Poor film overall. Action was constant and incredibly fast and hard to follow, so many scenes felt forced and clunky, next to no plot or heartfelt interaction between them all, some of the CGI was ropey as anything.
The comic was dreadful but this was far worse.
And knowing spiderman could have been in this but marvel are ******s is a joke. Spiderman is THE avengers and its really poor that he is still not in it.
