Ok so here is my problem, i am planning on building a system in around 3 weeks but unsure what path to take, my current rig:

4790k @ 4.7
16g
240g ssd
1T hd
Titan X
Aio cooler for cpu
650w
Zalman Z11 case

Now as things stand it does pretty dam well for what i use it for which is mainly gaming (Current titles including gta5 but also cpu dependent games like X-plane with mods galore), video playback and listening to music.

The things i have made my mind up on:
New case ( Phanteks Enthoo Luxe )
Full watercooling instead of my Aio, doing this for looks as much as effectiveness.
New psu as i am concerned my current one may not cut it once i water cool the system and also because i do intend to add more cards.

My question is should i stick with the main components or go the whole hog and do what my heart wants and that is too add a x99/5960x to the mix, throw in the best of the best ssd's and high end ddr4?
Would i notice a huge difference in games or would it be a small increase?
Money really is not a factor but i still have no desire to "blow" my hard earned cash.

Thanks for any advice given.

You should stick with what you have, if you were buying from fresh, then I would be like, go for it, do what you have your heart set on.

Thanks for the quick response, i really cant make my mind up and it is driving me crazy, i get what you are saying but having chosen to change my case and go for water cooling i think maybe it is worth doing a total overhaul now rather than delaying the inevitable. I'd love the feed back from someone who had a 4790k and upgraded to 5960x but not just the mobo and cpu upgrade but how the system was after everything was updated, interested to see if the performance gain was worth it.

I have 4790K and have 5960X :D

Obviously I overclocked both setups hard and I will admit there are bits in BF4 where the tower collapse or the Hotel sides fall down on Hainan resort that are smoother with the more powerful rig.

It's not going to be much of an upgrade, for the price of it all at least.

So in your view would it only benefit me in the future if i choose to add more cards? I have done some research and understand the x99 will allow more cards thanks to more lanes?

I love my current card but need more in my life and surely worth it for future gaming?

If gaming is the main use, 4790k is grand with dual sli or single card. Tri sli or xfire, X99 would be the better choice.

Just board+CPU+RAM.

But now its changed slightly again. But at the time was just those three parts.

Yeah understood, as i am sure you can tell i am not overly clued up on all this but really love my new future addiction ( If you could here my miss's moan! )
I also get i might not see a huge improvement in performance but i crave more power and think i will really enjoy hooking it all up.

Should definitely go x99 at the end of the month and then sell me your 4790k ;)

To be honest i do have plans with the whole system if i go the x99 route, it will involve me giving it away along with the old gpu i had in it before i swapped out for the tx. Do not have the time or desire for ebay :)

Yeah understood, i think the whole gpu thing will be the element that makes my mind up, i know 1 card is fine at the moment but them extra slots are their for a reason so why not!! lol ( trying to convince self )

Okay. That's fair enough but In that case, my 4690k would work great in there! ;)

Edit: just seen you don't have MM :(
