****Official Project CARS thread****

Well I have to say I'm impressed, online works really well and the races I've had tonight with random people have been really clean, there's been the occasional knock but nothing on purpose and everyone seemed to be racing properly.

I've only done the first season in career mode but that was fine. I know there is some reported bugs with the AI but overall it's really good and can be tough to beat.

Can some-one explain the career mode in this game. I've started off in zero to hero and went for karting, will this take me through all the leagues including touring cars, or do I need to start a new game for each league?

Karting is so hard its unreal, playing on hard with everything off apart from abs. Not really enjoying it if im honest looking forward to touring though.

you get offers at the end of the season if you do well enough.
I started in the clio cup and there was only about 5 different tracks to the season so go karts are prob really short seasons too.

Will be having my first proper go tonight. If anyone wants a bash online, give me a shout.

I put about 5 hours into this last night and I have to say I am impressed. I started off with the career mode in the first Kart championship and I am now mid season in the super kart championship, having won the Kart championship. I then had a blast on the online mode, and I think I had around 6 or 7 good races.

I don't seem to have come across any bugs in the game so far that other people have reported (or I just haven't noticed). The only thing that slightly annoys me is the performance of the cars on cold tyres, once they are warmed up it's no problem but the first couple of laps is like trying to steer a boat around a corner. Also I think it's been mentioned before about the audio from the pit going straight to the ds4, I can't see an option to change this to my headset?

Overall I'd say SMS have done well and I'm sure they will push out patches asap to fix bugs.

Do I start every race with cold tyres ? Are they pre warmed in the pits before a quick race ? I've no idea tbh, I did a few quick races last night and didn't seem to notice cold tyres from the start, maybe they were but I was ok at dealing with them.

I know the tyre indicator was showing them as green, green is good but does that mean good condition or good grip.

All help greatly welcome. My pit guy needs to tell me these things :D

Has anyone downloaded the free livery pack yet ? Do the decals get added to the cars automatically or can we pick/choose which ones to add on the car of our choosing ?

Had a few races last night using the DS4. I haven't played a racing game for ages my last proper game was Forza 4 and I really struggled feels super twitchy and sensitive In the super karts which I started in. Need to play about with the settings and get used to it, overall though looks like a really good game and personally haven't noticed any bugs yet. It's a game that isn't forgiving even hitting the apexs can cause big problems.

Pleased to hear the good feedback so far. Bit of a mixup with my order so I won't get to play the game until next week :(

Regarding the handling of the karts, I remember on GT5(?) that the karts were a lot more twitchy than normal road cars, so maybe that's the same here - I guess this is fairly realistic.

I love the detail in the small things, weather. You can not only select if it is sunny or wet, you can select multiple weather systems which will cycle throughout the race.

So you can select to start the race with heavy cloud, then light rain, heavy rain then sunny if you wish.

Great stuff.

I'm not too sure if you start every qualifying or race with cold tyres. The online races I had last night with mikeym, when we did qualifying as soon as you came out of the pits the tyres were showing blue, took a few laps to go green. I think when the actual race started the tyres were green!:)

Maybe when you create an online lobby you can choose to have warm tyres from the start for both qualifying and race?

Feel free to add me if you haven't already. blitzben85

Few races last night here too. Had an awesome 5 lap (plus qualy) session on Spa with the DTMs. Ended up being epic stuff but as others have mentioned, careful on the cold tyres in qualy for the first 2 laps or so :)

Cold tyres effecting first few laps is really cool.

What setting is everyone using for the Ai, mines on 80 but it's quite tough!

*also has as already been echoed in here, don't forget to check out the store for the free car and livery pack.

Started in the Clio Cup, all sessions and 100% session lengths. Started with the AI on 80 and won the first race by 20 seconds after 16 laps. Second race I upped it to 90 and won by 8 seconds after 16 laps. So going to go for 100 from now on and see how it goes.
