Track days

Bedford was designed specifically for newbies... but it's not an airfield type track... Plenty of easy going run off in case you make a mistake, yet it's still a very good track to play on. Well designed.

Snetterton is fun... Donington too.

Silverstone I think is boring...

Javelin were OK for me, even on a weekend... it wasn't tooooo crowded.

Thanks all for the feedback.

The car is an M135i, it's brand new and I also use it for business, so I certainly don't want to stuff it! That said, I want to enjoy the performance and it's too fast to push it much on the roads without quickly being in lost license territory.

I live near Milton Keynes, so Bedford is close to me. It's one of the circuits I'd looked at as an option, but I wanted the feedback of the more experienced people here, particularly with regard to good organisers.

I'm also going to the 'ring at the end of June, so I'd like to explore the car a bit more before I head there into rather unforgiving territory!

I wouldn't use a car that you depend on for your livelihood for motorsport use, certainly not doing the 'ring as a novice in.

Bedford seems reasonable enough though.

I know what you're saying, but at the I won't be going mad with it. I just want to enjoy the performance, and I can't on the roads. Also, whilst I use it for business my livelihood doesn't depend upon it. I'm in the fortunate position that I receive a car allowance that pays for it almost completely. In the event that it were to be off the road I can run another car if necessary.

I'm new to track days too, so bit the bullet and booked Blyton Park (recently did photos here and it looks fun for a first timer), Donnington (with instruction) and Silverstone (with instruction), also booked a full day training session at Millbrook to learn how to handle the car in the corners better and looking to fill the gap with a session at Bedford too.

I have only been to Javelin events and they have been fantastic through out and I normally go peak times (Summer Holiday period) where there are 50+ cars attending.

I have been to Cadwell Park, Blyton Park and Snetterton. Blyton Park has lots of run off so is very good for beginners and is a nice circuit. Snetterton is in the middle with Cadwell being the most challenging. Cadwell is my favourite so far but I only go 90% as I always have it in the back of mind how easy it is to bin it! In some ways I prefer Blyton as I can go 100% without the fear of crashing!

Be very wary as costs can spiral quite quickly depending on machinery. 4WD Rally reps are a lot more expensive to run compared to your caterfield. I spent £200 on fuel alone one time but I did drive to the venue.

You really have to be unlucky to lose it and damage your car at Blyton, it's a small and basic circuit but I love it for the same reason: You really can go 100% without much worry:D

Just a quick update...I went and had a great time, learnt a lot about my car and didn't break it (yay!). Eastern circuit layout is brilliant, though better for light & nimble cars like Elises & Caterhams than mine.

Some pics from the day.

I think I've well & truly got the bug now!

The Outer circuit is brilliant, done it twice now and good for medium size fast cars. It's still quite a small circuit but enough to get some speed and technical enough to satisfy. Glad you had fun and no accidents happened!
