****Official Project CARS thread****

Couple of questions...

1) Pit Stops in time trial mode or the online community events e.g. the Formula A around Barcelona. I can pit but nothing happens? e.g. if I take damage and am told to pit by my engineer I just cruise through the pitlane without actually pitting, so any damage doesn't get repaired. Is this normal? I do exactly the same thing in a race and I pit successfully. Also do I always have to use the menu to select a PIT preset?

2) Do the 4 tyre icons on the HUD just display temperature, or do they show wear as well?

3) On PS4 can the pit-chat be directed from the DS4 speaker to your main speakers? If I'm using my headphones I completely miss the instructions, plus I assume this can't really be of use to wheel users?

I would like to know this as well re pits, I select repair damage and nothing happens so I have to restart. Bizarrely it worked online though!

Just use less throttle. Brake coming into the corner, apply a bit of throttle through corner (barely more than idle) then as you start applying more as you straighten up.

Found the game pretty good so far. The go karts are a nice fun addition and the level of detail is great, even down to the two stroke exhaust expansion chamber lol

The handling can be cruel but it's very predictable. If you spin out you know why.

Thanks, got the hang of it in the end! :)

4):D Done a race weekend at brands Hatch and on the menu/settings screen it displays track record with user times underneath although for some reason my best time was not showing. Is it only time trials that record my best times for tracks?

Cheers

I think this is broken, also none of your friends times are even listed in the leaderboards..

I'm pretty sure the track record box is meant to be clickable, but its not hooked up, another one to add to the list of fixes SMS need to attend to...

If SMS devs are having a break after release.. They'll be busy when they return.. : - )

Are you talking about the online time trials? If so I've had the same problem with it not recording any lap times I've set.

That seems the case then, hope they fix it soon, spikey I was asking about the world record best track time and user best time displayed in the race weekend menu, it just shows n/a under user time.

Developers are still working on the game. When I use the WMD forum there an option to view Dev posts and there are plenty of posts concerning work that is been done on the game.

Don't you have to request a pit stop? If you just drive into the pits the game takes over and drives you out again.

Have to say it's certainly the best racer I've played in a long time. Spent hours playing online last night, can't beat two people jostling for position in front of you and both spinning out when you fly past laughing and moving up two places on the final straight! :D What also impresses me is the sheer variation of tracks which most games are lacking in these days. There could be a bigger car selection but they can add them along the way.

So tempted by this but cant decide if its for me or not! Need a racing game, have driveclub and was enjoying that but not played for a month or so

Is this perfectly fine with a controller?

I'm thinking about getting a wheel and wonder how great a difference force feedback really makes in this and Driveclub. How much genuine feel for the track and the car does it really give, or is it just resistance and rumble? I would only get a ThrustmasterT100 but they seem a bit thin on the ground, whereas for £20-£30 less there is the T80 and plenty about, but that lacks FF.

For those on a DS4,adjusting the speed sensitivity made a BIG help for me controlling those tank slapping moments, adjusted the other settings but that one stood out for me, around 40-50% should do it if your having the same problem i had.

is it safe to say this is more than likely an unfinished game, using the community as testers then. that seems to be the word visiting a few forums including here.

the way i look at it is whenever i drive my road car i never seem to have any rumble effects coming thru my wheel unless i go across speedbumps etc. i had the official xbox 360 wheel which iirc put some stress on the wheel when going to full lock ( made it stiffer to turn ) which is more like real driving.

i dont understand where people think that ffb makes a driving game more realistic bar a few exception ( driving on armco in f1 etc )

I don't know how well ffb is implemented in PCars but if done right it does add to the immersion. Obviously a wheel adds much better control but the ffb adds some resistance and rumble when you run over curbs. Once used to it then can get a feel for if the car is understeering and obviously ffb puts force through the wheel for oversteer.

Yeah, this is what I'm trying to assertain... I would have thought, or hoped, you would get some feedback with grip, which in real life makes the steering go light when traction is lost. If it doesn't go beyond rumble on the curb, and extra weight as you turn, then I'm not so bothered. If it helps finding the bleeding edge of car balance and grip, then I would go for it.

Is the T80 totally dead, or does it rumble?

Ah, okay, cheers, so you do get a feel for these situations... if done well it could make a real difference. Would be interested to hear more from those with a FFB wheel and P-Cars, as to how well this is simulated

If you want a RACING game, this is the one. I've never had a game which feels like a racing game until now. Fortza and GT are good but they don't actually feel like a racing game...if that makes sense, this game give me the feeling I was searching for

I'm fine with the controller, I've even started to to be light on the sticks when going around esses, slight bends. The car is under control much ore and you gain those extra few tenths required.

p.s

I'm having so much fun in the Clio Cup, I love those little cars.

When and where can we discuss setups. I've just tried the Aston v12 around donnington.

So much understeer
