Just in case anyone else has considered it.

My internet speeds in Devon were woeful. Thought I would give Fibre a shot.

Jeezus this is fast, gone from 1.4MB/sec download to 4.4/4.5MB/sec

Really happy with it, works out about £28 for line rental, broadband and 1000 minutes any mobile phone per month.

Not sure how good the pricing is VS others but for these speeds I am really impressed.

I was going to say 3Mbps jump is woeful but remembering when I was on a 1Mbps package and one day it bumped itself to just 2Mbps. I was ecstatic. Enjoy. You won't be able to go back after a month of living with a whole 4.4Mbps

Do you mean 44Mbps?

I'm fairly sure he's talking MB/s (megabytes per second).

1.4MB/s = 11.2Mb/s.
4.4MB/s = 35.2Mb/s

MB megabytes
Mb megabits

^^ Oh yeah what you guys said, I meant 4.4 when DL with utorrent etc. It's literally over twice as fast.

Gonna run a speed test will update.

So went from about 14.00Mb/s DL and 1.00Mb/s upload to 39Mb/s DL and 9,00Mb/s upload. Actual DL speed is 4.4 with utorrent. This is like night and day for me.

Was worth the extra £8 per month imho.

Sounds very cheap, ive been paying BT about £40 a month for as long as i can remember. Might be time to give another company a shot, ive tried a few companies in the past and i always ended up with dodgey connections, maybe through fibre its a bit less risky trying cheaper companies.

Really? I thought it might be pricey VS some others out there. Because I've been with them for a few years they gave me some discounts. 1 Free Month, free router and free connection fee to Fibre and they knocked off money per month.

I know some people say bead things about EE / Orange for Broadband but they have always been really helpful. No limits either, so didn't wanna switch. If I'm getting a good deal even better.

Lol... try going from 150/10 to 5/1... it's painful!

I had 150/10 for a year... virgin 150/15 for a year or so before that... had been with virgin since 50mbit for about 3 years... 24mbit before that... 16mbit before that... 100/100 in uni halls before that... 0.5mbit before that.

It's been about 7-8 years since I've been on a connection this slowwwww... it's painful ;)

And this village is so small... it's going to be wayyyy down the list of France's FTTC rollout I bet :( No idea where to find a list either.

Once you go fibre you can't go back

Really? I moved house and went from 50meg Virgin to 5 meg and then bought a new build house and now have 2meg, I foresee me upgrading to maybe 512k in ten years or even dial up

You should try being stuck on a 380KB/sec connection then. Anything over 1MB/sec simply isn't woeful at all.

i feel your pain bro! i was on pretty much the same speed at my old place. 340KB/s during busy times and 380 - 390KB/s during less busier times. Was so slow downloading games and couldn't watch 1080p videos on youtube. But now at my new place on on 3.2MB/s and its night and day.
Just upload is on 190KB/s and sucks... wish it was faster at least 0.6MB/s (600KB/s) or something.

I got talktalk fibre the day it was available... 1 week later they did the £100 Rainforest voucher free which my eagerness caught me to miss out on.

Its £10 a month more for 78mbps fibre for the first 12 months then £20 PM on top of the line rental.

Well worth it IMO
