Hi,

I'm currently running TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz, but would like to go to 16GB. Am i better getting another 2 x 4GB sticks of similar spec, or going for 2 x 8GB? My rig is in my sig, and is overclocked to 4.5GHZ, with the memory also overclocked.

Any recommendations would be welcome please :)

Unless you are video editing and photoshopping a lot, stick with 8GB.

Not sure what the OP is using his PC for but I also have the same RAM and also looking at upgrading to 16GB.

Mainly because I'm running out of memory when running web browser and game at the same time, I run a multi-monitor setup (4x monitors).

Started playing Star Citizen recently and that eats RAM for breakfast...

So another 2 x 4GB sticks or 2 x 8GB sticks? and if the latter what would be a good similar set to the 8GB?

I use 4x4GB sticks, mainly because I already had 2x4Gb in my PC and by the time I need more than 16GB I'll probably be purchasing an entirely new rig.

It depends on how much you plan on spending and if you intend on upgrading in the future. If you ever want to put more than 16GB in your system you'll want to get 2x8GB sticks, otherwise you'll be wasting £40 on sticks you'll never use again. If you'll only ever want 16GB might as well get 2x4GB as that'd work out cheaper. Although I would only purchase the extra RAM if your machine truly needs it. I'm normally streaming the games I play, whilst having various background programs (multiple Chrome tabs, Spotify, TeamSpeak etc.) and the main game (on max settings) all running, so I quickly found 8GB wasn't enough for me.
