Recently got a GTX 970, thinking 1440p 27"?

Been messing around with nVidias DSR feature today and was suprised how well games ran above 1080p (on my current 1080 24" monitor)

So im thinking of upgrading to something a bit bigger, what would i be looking at for a monitor thats good value for money/nice quality?

Thanks for the suggestion will have a look! One other thing i was wondering is if its worth me getting one with a higher refresh rate? Always had 60hz but was thinking if its worth going higher (mainly used for gaming)

edit* also.. im an idiot :) this whole to
ime my monitor has been 23", i thought it was 24. So 25" would still feel a step up then ;)

I went for the BenQ GW2765HT when I upgraded to a 970 and so far I can't recommend it enough - great screen imo!

Having said that, 320 notes is a lot and there might well be better screens out there for this kind of money right now!! Overclockers (an others) have had this down at £275 not too long ago!
 
Thanks for the suggestions, have looked more into that Dell one and it does sound really good and the price suits me fairly well!

The Benq one looks tasty too but mYbe a bit steep for me atm :(

thinking about it 60hz would probably be fine as most modern games seem to hit around that point on the 970

Also, for games that i may still need to run at 1080p for better performance, ahat happens on a 1440p display? Does it just upscale? I imagine it still looks good

To be honest you should just go for the Dell U2515H it's already factory calibrated and the extra 2 inches doesn't seem worth it for the price difference with the BenQ GW2765HT.

BenQ GW2765HT 27" £319.99
Dell UltraSharp U2515H 25" £269.99

Both are 2560x1440 @ 60 Hz and are IPS.

If you want 144 Hz then you'll have to compromise with a TN panel

For me colour quality > resolution > refresh rate.

yea i think your right mate, the dell does look really nice too and has a few great write ups/ youtube reviews so i think thats the one for me! 23" to 25" is still a noticeable increase anyway :)
 
Imo paying 250+ for a 1 inch increase and going from 1080p to 1440p seems like a complete waste, especially when 4K monitors are coming down in price like a stock market crash. Even if you have to scale back to 1440p in some games you still have the ability to go 4K in those games that aren't as resource intensive, plus you'll keep the monitor along for a lot longer anyway so in a year or two you'll have the hardware to drive it better. But that's my 2c.
 
1440p over 4k in my opinion, why would you buy a 4k just to downscale the res? You'll end up getting frustrated and end up blowing £300 of another GPU. At least I would!

I see your point but 4K IPS screens are still expensive plus you'll have to invest in at least two graphics cards to drive AAA games at 4K on maximum settings.
