Looking for a cheap low profile cooler

Hi there,

I'm after something cheap to replace the Intel stock cooler for my new Raijintek Metis build I'm in the process of doing.

It needs to cool an i5 2300 with no overclock. It needs to be low profile. I was looking at the Raijintek ones but they appear to be out of stock.

Thanks,
Alex.

Will you be using the PCIe slot? You need to be careful with coolers on MITX boards because socket placement is key with regards any interference with the PCIe slot.

How much is "cheap" ?

I have the Arctic Cooling cooler now which is lovely and quiet. However it is too big to allow me to fit a graphics card. So I may just go back to my old H60 which allowed me plenty of space. Unless anyone can provide another solution?

Been asking a similar question on another thread.

I'm wanting to build an 'under the telly' gaming PC.

It will include the following

Silverstone Grandia GD06 or GD05 Case (struggling to spot any difference between the two)
An mATX motherboard - undecided which but there isn't a lot of choice
An Intel i5-4960 (or K) - 85W TDP
A Geoforce GTX960 graphics card

The case limits me to 70mm cooler height if I fit an optical drive and 120mm if I don't.

Until, I saw this, I thought height was my problem but if I have read correctly I also have the make sure the cooler does not block the PCIe slots.

So what would you recommend?

Cheers,

Nigel

Raijintek Zelos 94x93x44 mm (unfortunately still out of stock)

This might be the solution. Definitely smaller than the Arctic 11. It's always out of stock though.

Try asking the shop staff in the custmomer support section. I have found it elsewhere but it's more expensive than here.

You will be m-ATX though and have loads more room than the OP's m-ITX board which has the pci-e slot practically up against the cpu socket.

Thanks, had missed that the OP was on mini-ATX.

Thought it was odd, when I was looking at the board there did seem to be plenty of space.

As an aside does anyone else think the naming is odd - I'm sure if people were unaware consensus would say that micro-ATX sounds smaller than mini-ATX - but we know it is the other way round.

Cheers,

Nigel
