Driving disqualification - Confused

So, I got pulled over on my bike last year for doing 80-100mph in a 50mph zone (A4074 for those curious) by a unmarked police biker. I pleaded guilty as it was clear cut obviously.

I just got out of court as I was summoned to discuss my disqualification. I gave my reasons for why it would effect me so due to my living situation etc.

I was sentenced 28 days disqualification and a fine of £435 and no points. I'm happy with that and consider it very fair.

My question is this, due to the disqualification being less than 56 days, my licence isn't sent to the DVLA, instead, it's simply returned by the court and I don't need to apply for a new licence nor apply for the disqualification to be removed. Will this be on my licence with the DVLA or have I got off mega lightly and it's just a case of not being able to drive for a month? Will I have to inform insurance as I am renewing at the end of the disqualification. Luckily, my insurance runs out on the 15th of this month!

TL;DR, don't speed kids, it's really not worth.

It will be recorded as a ban, I had the same in 05, got done for 54 in a 30, went to court and pleaded.

Got a 28 day ban and 0 points. From then on my licence had a ban code for 5 years. Can't remember the exact code now but it put my insurance up a fair whack at the time.

80 - 100mph? Don't the Police have to state the actual speed they clocked you at or are you being intentionally disingenuous?

The officer stated I did an excess of 50mph and recorded between 80-100mph over 0.5 miles that he followed me on his unmarked bike. I got a bit suspicious when a big Honda touring bike was keeping up. As soon as I backed off, the blues went off...

Won't be doing that again!

I would imagine that was the speed range he went through whilst the Police biker was following him, which would have also been recorded as evidence to re-inforce the conviction.

OP - as far as I know it will be recorded as a ban. You will have to declare it every time you want to apply for insurance, be it for a bike or car and you may find some insurers will refuse you insurance (your current insurer may even void your current insurance depending on their policy on banned drivers). I think it tends to be applied for 5 years. If you do get refused insurance because of the ban, you will also have to declare that fact for future insurance quotes AFAIK.

Ah right, I suppose that makes sense. Perhaps I've been conditioned by the headlines when they scream about 'MURDEROUS CAR DRIVER CLOCKED AT 139mph IN A 20 ZONE, CHILDREN DEAD EVERYWHERE!!!' when that's likely the highest speed recorded rather than the constant speed.

The courts can endorse the license to save the hassle of sending it off to the DVLA. The offence will still be recorded with the DVLA and as already said, you will need to declare it whenever you're arranging insurance in future.

When I got done many moons ago they also didn't know the exact speed as they had never managed catch me up (gutless unmarked car) so mine was in court as 100mph + (they radio'd ahead for a car to be on the hard shoulder waiting for me and I slowed as soon as I observed the car ahead) I was doing more than 100mph so there wasn't anything to argue that would do me any good.

I had no points but a 90 day ban with a fine and a code which I had to declare when insuring.

80-100MPH? The Court should also have fined you £400-£1000 and banned you for 28-365 Days.

Why on earth did you admit it when the Plod didn't know your actual Speed? You could have walked from that with a decent Brief. Crazy.

 What?

The police officer, with his calibrated speedometer, gave a testimony stating that he followed the OP over 0.5miles doing between 80-100mph in a 50mph zone. And you think he could have "walked away from it" if he had a decent solicitor. lol ok.
