How much do you think the 390X will cost and will you buy it ?

390 - £250-£300
390X - £350-£400

NVidia will counter with huge price drops so I think much over £400 is out of the question given AMD's position.

If Nvidia do that i hope AMD don't go silly low price to counter it.

Absolutely no point in selling for low margins or even a loss, Nvidia can do that if they want, see how long they are willing to do it before jacking the price up again.

AMD mentioned increasing profitability every year in those slides a few days back, the only way they can do that is by trying to market their cards at higher prices.

Agree with humbug, absolutely no point from their perspective selling cards at low margins right from the off. It will do more harm than good.

Not sure but I won't be buying one, I can't ever bring myself to go over £300 for a new GPU, although if a decent monitor comes out I might upgrade just for that. Thing is a R9 290 can mostly max out everything I play @1440p so what is the point? I'll also probably go Nvidia next time because I might want G-Sync.

I'm not entirely sure why you guys think they would release several "reference" versions of this card, one carrying a massive premium over the other. AMD are not exactly in a position to go for gimmicks, they need to generate cashflow to stay afloat.

AMD need to be very careful. If they price it too high and the 980ti is cheaper* they'll be in big trouble.

* AMD are going first so no doubt Nvidia will initially beat them on price. I'll wait until everything is out and the price war is over before I decide.

Not going to happen...it's not in Nvidia nature to undercut AMD on prices...just think back to 780 remained higher priced after the pricecut that took placed after the launch of 290/290x.

Slightly slower, slightly more expensive, still more cards (or at least equal among of cards) will be shifted- that's Nvidia.
