****Official Project CARS thread****

Got the game coming today, decided to opt for the Thrustmaster TX wheel from OcUK, hopefully it'll be here next week, as it's preordered with a ETA of the 18th.

Why when we select a car can we not have the livery shown ? Small irritation :p

Livery selection is one of the weirdest things in the game IMO, it seems either very hard to access (there are basically 2 different screens for selecting cars and tracks each laid out differently which is unnecessary) or the livery you thought you selected gets overridden by something else when you actually get on-track.

Are you supposed to set all cars liveries to what you want in your garage and save them there, then carry them over into the game modes (barring career where you sign for particular teams)?

Seems something so simple is needlessly complicated.

I never knew there was "livery selection" Where do I find this ? All I've ever seen is when you pick your car you see livery A, yet once you start a race weekend you end up with something totally different.

On one of the car selection screens you can press left and right and it cycles through various liveries.

Try it on the one where you can see the actual car model rotating rather than just a text list.

Edit - anyone seen anywhere yet that displays tire wear when in a race? Up to yet I've only seen temperature displayed, no idea at all on how much grip is left, not even on the telemetry HUD option.

The ui is a bit messy and the car selection screens are confusing , no worse then gt5 car delivery system, what the heck was that all about lol..

Tire wear is something devs are looking at, but honestly I think you are meant to feel when your tires are going off. Car should have less grip...

Thanks, never knew this.

Yeah I suppose that's more realistic, but given the other HUD options a lack of tyre wear seems odd. I'd quite like the current temp. icons to deplete in terms of colour fill to tally with wear, and maybe keep the outline colour as an indicator of temperature.

I agree, though it would be good if your race engineer talked over the radio letting you know that the tyres maybe due for a change (based on life expectancy of said tyre) just so we get an idea of when to pit.

Yeah, something along the lines of:

"You're lap times are increasing, looks like the tyres are dropping off, best come in soon before they go completely".

Agreed.

He has no issue letting you know when you're down on fuel

Does this game take a lot of fiddling with to get right ?

I'm looking for a racer on the PS4 and trying to decide between this, drive club or the crew

Well I would rule out The Crew for a start, complete rubbish.

If you want more of a sim then Project Cars without a doubt, if you're after a more arcade racer then Driveclub.

The only one I have on is ABS. Is that causing my car to brake automatically without me telling it to?

No that just stops you locking brakes, not brake for you.

There will be an option in there somewhere to turn off auto braking, probably where things like the racing line showing braking zones are. Which of the 3(?) user settings a did you choose when you first started the game? Sounds like you might have picked chud mode that makes the game easy, or have flicked it on inadvertently when flicking through the options.
