So today i went in for my 1st tattoo removal appointment...

Took all of 15 secs of excruciating pain for them to go over the entire tattoo.

Next appointment in a month.

They said not to expect much change until the 3rd or 4th appointment.. which by then will be every two months instead of monthly. I bought a pack of 8 sessions, which they initially wanted $1500, but the haggler in me knocked them down to $600.

Tattoo was of a silly cartoon character that i had done when i was 17 (late 80's they were all the rage back then) lol. About the size of a iPhone 4,

At nearly 43 and on my leg, living in the tropics, with my legs on show ALWAYS outside of work, i was starting to feel a bit of a tit with it. So it had to go.......

anyway if you think a a tattoo is cool now, wait til you've had it for 20yrs. ;)

look on the bright side, at least you didnt get flesh tubes..

^ thats revolting, but I agree with the 3rd post, I always wanted tattoos but waited till I was in my twenties to get them and dont regret them yet (only 6.5 years in but still)

I'm fully sleeved, tats on leg, chest and back of neck. All done late teens, early 20s. Now 34.

Only reason I would have them removed is to have new ones done again.

Back then I was treated like a second citizen, now I see people with them on side of their neck in white collar jobs.

Funny how times change. Now people are getting internal organs pierced and eyeballs tatted up.

I have dreams where I am a kid again and still have them, I would never get them removed. Never.

You've not said which character.
It was She-Ra wasn't it? You should not feel any shame about showing off your devotion to the Princess of Power!

Had my tattoo done over 10 years ago, went into a parlor, saw a tattoo I like and got it on the top of my arm. Not the wisest move to make, but I don't regret it. Only time people see it is if I remove my top and I'm far more embarrassed about my man boobs!

15 seconds for the whole tattoo? That sounds very different to any laser tattoo removal I've ever heard of / experienced.

I'm in the process of getting a horrific tribal sleeve / chest / back piece removed. As its such a large piece they can only treat a small area at a time, but it takes about 15 minutes to cover around a fifth of it. Every "shot" of the laser feels like you're getting burned by hot fat, not fun.

Does the place you're having it done have a website - interested to see how theres is so different.

I'm far too much of a pussy to even contemplate tattoos. Fear of regret and having to burn myself when I'm 40 and hate my tattoos was easily enough to put me off.

That and they look a bit...working class.

Tattoos are a choice, they are certainly not for everybody.

I have a couple of awful tattoos that I regret deeply, most of them I'm still chuffed with to this day.

I work as an accountant for a large corporate insurer - I doubt anybody in work even knows that I have tattoos. It simply wouldn't be appropriate for me to showcase them in a work environment, and although they have absolutely no baring on my ability to do my job I can understand peoples aversion to them and how they might distort peoples opinions of me.
