The update to the AMD game bundle comes just a week after NVIDIA delivered a massive update to their own GeForce bundle that allows buyers of GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards to claim Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight for free. As expected, both of these AAA titles are highly anticipated titles built using NVIDIA’s Gameworks technology that use several NVIDIA exclusive effects such as Fur physics, PhysX, TXAA, etc. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt reviews released today to perfect scores by several gaming sites and will be available to gamers on 19th May, 2015. These two AAA titles gave PC gamers quite the incentive to update to a Maxwell based graphics card but AMD is back to sweeten the deal on their own graphics cards.

That's not going to help their bottom line. I can see them getting a decent deal with CM given their history, but no way would R* be willing to move much at all on GTA pricing seeing as it sells gangbusters at full price.

At this point I think it's more about clearing stock than turning profits.

Nice deal for anyone buying though.

Like Ayahuasca says they'll be trying to clear out inventories before the new product lines appear, it's better to take a small loss now rather than a big loss later.

Why would they bundle games when they're already selling near cost?

Just write off the bloody stock already. Everyone knows the new cards are coming.

How much does it cost to do a bundle vs a write-off?

That'd be an amazing deal at the current price of the 290X. I do wonder whether they'll mysteriously shoot back up closer to £300 as soon as it goes live though... ;)

The fact that they are desperate to get rid of stock might mean that they are trying to squeeze as much money as they can with the low margins as they know they can't sell a single one when the 300 series is released, the midrange 300 series might be as fast or faster for less money.

I really don't get it, if the 380/x's are really tweaked 290/x's, then they wont have any trouble selling the old 290/x's after the 380/x's launch, providing the 380/x's are a little bit dearer. People will be happy to buy the older stock if the performance is nearly the same and the price is better.

Right, it depends on how much they are tweaked, we don't know how well GCN 1.3 may perform.

They might be smaller, significantly faster, more power efficient... the 380X will no doubt be more expensive at about £300, but the 370X might perform as well as a 290X with less power and about the same price.

2048 GCN 1.3 Shaders 300mm2 180 watts @ 290X performance. who knows...

Indeed - just look at how popular the 970 has been. It's more power efficient than the 780ti but certainly not quicker. Yet it sells by the bucketload even with the gimped VRAM.

Ohh arrr, could do with a couple more GTA codes. I'm into the modding side of gta and while not being banned yet im not sure how strict R* are on the modding side of things. Mostly graphical mods and such. Would like to try Dirt rally too! Two awesome games right there!!
