New 32GB of Ram is sweet / Win 7 Home Premium OMG & WTF:

You can always use Windows 8.1 evaluation until 10 comes out. Then you can use the 7's licence to upgrade to 10 for free.

Not sure about the limitation of the evaluation version though

Yes I learned this the hard way too. I upgraded my main workstation at work from 12GB to 24GB then discovered this artificial limit... I was forced to upgrade that machine and all my rendernodes to Windows 8.1 as a result. It was cheaper to do it that way and at least they're all now future-proofed and the upgrade path to Win 10 should be simpler. I now run 24GB in that machine, 24GB in each of my nodes and 64GB in my new main workstation.

pro, enterprise & ultimate were all 192GB, just starter, home basic & premium had lower limits (8, 8, 16 respectively assuming 64-bit version)

I doubt all that many people that need more than 16GB would have gone for below pro given it was limited in other ways too like some of the networking stuff.

Win 8 has variable limits too - but given the lowest one is 128GB it's not too bad :p (ignoring RT which is 4GB as always 32 bit)

Out of curiosity. What are you doing that you need so much RAM. I though gaming doesn't really need more than 8GB.

At work we use Visual Studio and MS SQL and it really struggles on 4GB. Especially if you have a bunch of other applications and browsers open.
