Like Crash Bandicoot 1,2 & 3
Before they started adding jumping on monsters backs

Like Spyro 1 & 2

Like "(add random proper 3d platformer here)

I wish for a new Crash bandicoot game that just has massive levels about a mile long with just smashing boxes, eating wumpa fruits, and bouncing on baddies (or spinning)

I wish for a new Spyro game where i just run around collecting gems and headbutting baddies in the gut.

I wish developers would stop thinking people that love platform games want new crappy elements added.

There are probably loads of these about but a. they are not that popular b. there are probably a million of them already from over the years

There can't have been only a few games like that made at the time when they were mainstream. Sounds like you need to look into your indie games more.

I echo your thoughts, the Spyro trio were my favourite although crash is close behind. The sequels were terrible, I couldn't play Enter The Dragonfly on PS2 as the frame rate was terrible! Such a shame Insomniac gave up on Spyro :(

The peak was 2D not 3D ;)

The 2d platformers are far greater than the 3D ones that followed them.

I dunno man - both have been great. I honestly couldn't choose between Super Mario World or SMB3 and Mario 64 and Banjo. It's good we don't have to :)

One thing tho - 2D has had it's revival recently. 3D adventure games, on the other hand, haven't been around for over a decade!

It seemed to be the generic 'action adventure' sort of genre. Today we have cover based shooting, QTEs and climbing as in uncharted. Maybe in 15 years we'll be saying 'bring back CBS!" Although I can't imagine how **** the next phase of gaming will have to be to make me say that.

We definitely could do with some. Even if it's just some indie devs that make them. I'm getting a bit bored of all the action games at the moment.

I loved Pandemonium on PS1. Got it as part of a triple pack of games and didn't play it for quite a bit but as soon as I got on to that first level I knew I was going to love it.
