Injury due to council negligence

A real man would have just ripped it out of the ground and got on with his day!!!

Does there always have to be someone to blame

You did the right thing reporting it tho, if you didn't have the manliness to pull it out of the ground yourself, well done Op;)

OP - grip, get one.

You've reported it and that's that. You could tie something bright to it to warn others of this bear trap!

I once fell down through a drain cover and landed in a storm drain. When I climbed out (with help from Thames Water people) I didn't blame anyone, I was slapped by my mother and to this day I look where I am going.

Just sayin'

Don't get why everyone's hating... Sure, it's not like it's a glass fibre snare at neck height over a public footpath, but it's still a potential accident waiting to happen. It's not like it would even have been a big job for whoever was doing the verge to get rid of it, the fact it's still there just goes to show that the contractors couldn't care less about their job. We all try to watch where we're going, but when there's a rusty brown bit of wire at foot height against some brown uneven surface I can see how it might be hard to spot.

Hope the council get it sorted.

Wait, what? I came in here thinking some serious injury was caused by an open manhole or something.

In reality you fell over and scraped your knee where there was no footpath? It's really hard to say anything over than man up. That include your responses to other posters, there is no need to get in a huff about a lack of sympathy.

I was in Bahrain some years ago walking along with three colleagues on a pavement and one of them was chatting away and suddenly disappeared as he fell straight down through an open man hole. It was brilliant. He just disappeared. he wasn't hurt thankfully but I had to stop laughing before I could check

Eww Bahrain... too hot.

Sorry OP you started this thread and at no point in presenting your case have you given evidence of any underhand involvement by immigrants, benefits claimers or the obese. GD can not be expected to show anything but disdain for you until this scenario is proven. Unless that is rectified you are a bona fide Pariah.

Sorry that's just the way it is.

Back in the 90's my mum tripped on a broken paving slab and had quite a deep cut above her eye where her glasses smashed,
She wrote the council a letter about it (good practice as she was studying for her law degree at the time) and got £2k as a settlement.
She used the money to get us a nice new 486 to replace our aging IBM AT!

That surface looks rather uneven, why were you even running on it? What if you'd slipped on one of those large stones? You could have just as easily hurt yourself by doing that. Perhaps you shouldn't run on that part of the area until it has been sorted out?
