I thought the same thing about TN (having never used it, and read a lot of bad things about it) until I got the Rog Swift. Been IPS and VA for years.
Situation turned on head.
The only real issue is the colour shift, but when you sit still when gaming, it's not an issue. The colour reproduction once calibrated is very very good.
This too, I much prefer a display without any ag coatingNever going back to tn, IPS or VA for me so yes screen quality matters quite a bit![]()
One thing, which a lot of people never think about is the anti-glare/matte coating, it makes such a massive difference to the clarity/sharpness, contrast etc. so that is equally just as important as the panel tech. imo.

Having suffered ips glow on a number of devices, I actively avoid IPS
Some blinds would fix that.^^
I would prefer no AG coating too but with the amount of light in my room, it would be reflection galore![]()
The newer TN panels do sound very good but there is no way that I could put up with the contrast shift and the heavy anti-glare coatings.

Some blinds would fix that.![]()
