I'm pretty amazed you got out of it with no broken spokes or other wheel damage.

I think the bin bag itself prevented any further damage! haha! The irony!

Deraileur ordered now, so hopefully should be a quick fix.

Anybody know what sort of paint I could apply to those patches where the finish has been scraped off?

Nail varnish will last as well as the original paint. Whatever you use the main difficulty will be matching the colour. I agree with the nail varnish recommendation though.

That sucks. I picked up a plastic bag in my rear mech on my way home on Tuesday. Stopped pedalling immediately and coasted to the next lights where I could pull it out bit by bit.

It's pedalling when the rear mech gets jammed that does the damage.

Fortunately, black is universally black, albeit my finish is quite a dull matt. Its mostly around the wheel dropouts though, so not that noticeable anyway. Just borrowed some of the girlfriends nail varnish and it looks much better.

I knew somebody would make that comment! I was wondering in the post whether to cut any jokes off before they came but decided not to! :D

Don't tell me you've never had your nails painted though...

Ex-goth so..yeah... I can't say that :p

In other news, my friend almost completed the route he attempted to drag me along today. I gave up 25 miles in due to my legs but he managed quite a bit more. Think it was partially inspired by the possible OcUK Manchester ride route but it looks somewhat more painful

One of the jobs in work today.

Nice one, it's an awesome climb.
Most people ride it in the Tornapress to Applecross direction because then you're climbing up the hairpins at the top and it feels more like an alpine climb. There's also a couple of sportifs which go over it in that direction, hence the big number of people doing it in one direction only.

Just looking at the categorisation, it's right on the line between Cat1 and Cat2. I guess the slightly shorter climb from the applecross side gives it a higher average gradient and just pushes it into Cat1. If they have the elevation and gradient correct then it's the only legit Cat1 climb in the country- well done!
I'v never ridden up that side of it :(

Thanks man

Yeah the Bealach Beg and Mor both take the typical climb so you are right that's why a lot of the leaderboard times were all set on the same day haha.

Since you ain't done it both ways we definitely need to head over there, but we will let you get next weekend done and give you a month recovery maybe? :p:p
