Conflict between Android 4 and 5?

I installed CyanogenMod which updates you to Android 5, I would say that about half my apps don't work anymore until I 're-download' them from the store then they work, so is this a CM thing or an Android thing?

By update, how did you do it?

What phone do you have? Were you on Cyanogenmod 11 previously or the stock ROM that came with your phone?

Either way, with Cyanogenmod, when you're flashing from a previous version not based on the same Android version or coming from a different ROM (such as stock ROM), you need to wipe your data as well to factory reset it, otherwise you will run into problems due to conflicts.

It sounds like a 'you' thing tbh.
How did you upgrade from CM11 to CM12? Did you backup you apps and do a restore or flash directly over an existing ROM without a full reset?
