Dear friends,
I had some screen freezes when a video was playing (Most of the time it is just the video screen that freezes and then I can't do anything anymore. The computer does NOT reboot. I do NOT get a blue screen BSOD). Most of the time, it was a 4K video that was playing from my SSD Boot disk. While playing a 4K video, the CPU uses below 40% and most of the time, the GPU is barely used except some very short peak moments of more than 90% (but this is only very short).

The system I used was as follows (it is a NEW system):

A) Motherboard: ASRock 970Pro3 R2.0
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970 Pro3 R2.0/
The latest version of the BIOS is installed (version 1.80)
I installed the drivers from the installation CD

B) AMD FX8300 processor (8 core)
http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=...

C) Special Cooler used for the processor: a top down cooler
On the website of the motherboard manufacturer (Asrock, it was recommended to use this kind of cooler when using the AMD FX8300 processor)
ZALMAN CNPS10X OPTIMA
http://www.overclockers.com/zalman-cnps10x-optima-cpu-c...

D) Gigabyte Radeon R7 260X OC 2 Gb graphics card
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...
I installed the latest drivers from the AMD website

E) 600 Watt power supply

F) 250 GB SSD (Samsung EVO 850)

G) Windows 7

I read on some website that other people too had freezes or blue screen (BSOD) with this motherboard. Do you think that the motherboard is a badly designed model and that I should get another motherboard (a different type/model)? Please answer a simple YES or NO and Why.
Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

What make and model is the PSU?

Also have you checked the system temps whilst in operation.

Thank you for all of your replies. here information...please look and help me.

While playing a 4K video, the CPU uses below 40% and most of the time, the GPU is barely used except some very short peak moments of more than 90% (but this is only very short).

System temperature while in operation:
CPU: Max. 30 degrees Celcius
GPU: Max. 40 degrees Celcius
Motherboard: Max 40 degrees Celcius in most parts. Except in 1 part of the motherboard it is always 60 degrees Celcius: this is the AMD970 chipset which is the Northbridge controller. This AMD 970 chipset has a cooler installed on top (no fan, just a heat sink). In the picture on page 2, this is mentioned in “temperature 2 = 59 degrees Celcius”
More details, see attached picture on page 2 (scroll down).

Here image for my problem

The motherboard does not have any direct VRM cooling so this could be a issue.

Is the memory voltage and timings setup correctly in the BIOS also try running Mem Test to rule out any memory issues.

Also can you try a fresh Windows install.
