2 x 780ti for now, or 1 x Titan x? or.. 2 x 980 Strix..

Hello Guys

I recently got a 780ti and SLId them, I am enjoying the joys of G-sync after getting the asus ROG swift. However I notice that when gaming at 144hz the cards sound like jet engines about to take off and leave planet earth.

Consequently I need to make some choices.. I have a couple in mind. Stick with the 780ti SLI till Pascal and really reap the benefits of HBM and other goodies, but that will be 2016, or for quietness sell my two 780tis and put in £400+ and get a Titan X, or for supreme quietness get rid of the 780tis and get 2 x 980 STRIX cards and get the quietness.

The logical choice would be just to wait for the Pascal cards as at 1440p seems to be perfect for the 780tis.. I can't help feeling a single Titan X would be somehow better suited.. and the 980 Strixs would also assist in giving me the extra juice as well as being a lot quieter..

Let me know your thoughts??

Maybe create a custom fan profile to quieten them down a little and then wait for Pascal??

For info, my eVGA 980's are very quiet during gaming (and silent at idle with 15% fan speed)

Id go for the titan x, should match the 780ti's in sli. Also more VRAM than the 780's or a pair of 980's.

You have two powerful cards, I wouldn't even think about switching until something groundbreaking comes out.

EDIT: Unless you're really bothered about noise but if I were in your shoes I don't think I'd be able to make my mind between a single Titan X and 2x980;p Each setup has its pros and cons.

And then go SLI:D

He will have to. One Titan X is slightly slower than 780TI SLI so he would need two.

This is what is putting me off of this next gen of GPUs. To see a significant upgrade I would need two and then it just gets silly. Think I'll stick to my Titan Blacks for a while longer.

Yeah, I've somehow managed to be an utter pillock and misread what the OP meant. Obviously he'd need two cards.

Looks like I'll stick with my 780tis for the time being. Should I set fan curves on msi after burner? What are the aio liquid cooling choices you guys are me mentioning

Yes m8, use Afterburner. Tbh I wouldn't bother with an AiO solution, see if a modified fan curve will at least quieten your sys down a bit first :)

The reason I say this is because my 980's weren't that quiet with the standard fan profile, but a little tweaking brought the noise right down (with a slight increase in temps of course, but not much)
