Why Has Asus Quality Gone down ?

So in the past 3 weeks I've gone through 4 ROG Swifts and I'm currently on a VX279Q.

The 4 Swifts all had dead pixels, Stuck pixels, Flickering and pixel inversion, I ended up just getting a refund as I was not going to pay £629.99 for a faulty monitor.

The VX279Q that I just got, Although only 1080P and IPS I thought it would be less susceptible to the issues above as it has less going on internally.

I was wrong as I have just turned the monitor on and found two dead pixels in the top left hand corner of the screen which I thought were dust at first glance, Sadly not.

I also have a BenQ 144Hz monitor that I've had for roughly 6 months, A 4K Samsung and even a Korean 1440P import and none have dead pixels, Stuck pixels or pixel inversion.

My question is this.

It's obvious that Asus monitor quality has gone down hill, But why ?

Not sure I brought the UHD TN Asus last november and it had no issues whatsoever, the only reason I returned it was because I didn't like it. I think you just got unlucky with the VX279Q and with the swifts they are notorious for their QC issues.

All my work friends have had Swifts and all have reported dead or stuck pixels, 1 of them had the Asus 4K TN and it has 3 dead pixels, 1 in the centre and 1 in the bottom right corner.

I'd just love to know why within the past few months QC has just vanished.

No idea, that does seem real bad! Are they all from the same retailer?

My Asus was from a different retailer. Had no issues with it but the color shift was horrid. I can't say to much for asus though because that is all I had from them.

Looking like OCUK have gotten some bad batches from Asus then as my brother has 3 Asus monitors in surround with no dead/stuck pixels but from another retailer, My dad has an Asus monitor from another retailer, No dead/stuck pixels, My little cousin has the Asus 4K TN, No dead or stuck pixels from another retailer but all the ones I've gotten from OCUK along with a few work mates over the past few months who have also gotten theirs from OCUK have all had dead/stuck pixels.

No issues in regards to quality control with my Swift (not bought from OcUK as I had staff discount elsewhere).

No one I know who owns a Swift IRL has any issues with it through only 1 of those people bought from OcUK that I know of - fairly sure all the others are bought from a well known site.

Not sure Asus quality control has gone down its always been pretty much the same for me - generally ok occasionally dire but I'm pretty much convinced they just "round robin" RMA returns passing one persons return straight to the next and hoping the problem goes away for the next person - when I had to RMA my old Striker motherboard I just kept getting problematic "refurbishments" until eventually I (randomly) got my old board back in the exact state I'd sent it in so took a hammer to it and moved on. (They have completely changed their RMA procedures/3rd party partners since then though).

I think that's what was happening to me because every Swift I got back was either in worse condition than the one before or in the same condition.

Happened to me when I RMA'd my motherboard, It was an Asus P5W-DH-Deluxe a few years back, I swear I got back the same one as it had the exact same problem as the one I sent in 6 weeks earlier, Yes 6 weeks, Not even an exaggeration there.

I've had the opposite - their monitors have been ok for me - if my swift doesn't get the whole blurry dying issue some people have I'll be perfectly happy with it.

Their motherboards just seem to hate me - nothing but bad experiences but other stuff has been fine i.e. the Eee, laptops, etc.

I've never considered asus to provide great quality on anything and probably provide the worst CS i've ever encountered, for any product I can think of really.

However, the swift is outstanding and other than a few on the forums, I don't know of any others who have had an issue plus, to their credit, they try to resolve quick - they get it wrong it seems, but they are being proactive in ensuring customers are happy.

Of your 6,540 posts dice, I kinda feel that 6,535 are of your problems with the swift :p

If you had a dead pixel on a monitor previously and called to get a replacement, you would be laughed at then hung up on.

You have been very unlucky with this product, nothing more, no great asus conspiracy or QC issue - like with everything, some will fail/some will work/some people will help/some will tell you to do one.

It's not just the Swift though bud if you read through the other comments, It's the current VX279Q I have that after 1 day of owning it has developed 2 dead pixels, Even some people at work all of their Asus monitors have developed dead pixels and that's a mix of Swifts, 4K and 1440P monitors, All of which have been bought within the past few months.

Makes me think their latest batch of panels they are using are ultra low quality in both the TN and IPS space.

The thing is, Asus doesn't assemble the actual LCD panel itself.
The panel is made at AU.

So are the panels shipping from AU with dead pixels, are they being shipped without testing, from Asus, or are they damaged in shipment?

Asus are no different when compared to other manufactures they just like to brainwash customers into thinking they are so they can over charge for what is fundamentally the same products.

ROG = 25% price increase for a logo.

Wouldn't say it's brainwashing but general if you pay a premium then it should come with some perks

EVGA have a good reputation/step up/long warranty..etc and gigabyte will always be first on my list where possible due to amazing support when sorting out a few problems in the past.

I have the Asus MX279H and its fantastic monitor. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed (As far as I can tell) And great colour reproduction. Its great for gaming and has great contrast and colour depth/richness.
