Has anyone got a 2 series ?

It's only at most 30cm longer?

And the 5 series is only at most 30cm longer than the 3 series, and the 6 series is only at most 10cm longer than the 5 series, and the 7 series is at most 25cm longer than the 6 series.

Whats your point? :p

30cm is a foot. Add a foot onto my Polo and I have a Golf. A foot is quite a lot.

30cm isn't that much of a difference, he's changing car anyway so will have to get used to the change. Surely the 3 series is a much nicer car the the 2 series?

The cost difference is minimal too.

I wouldn't know, I was just saying that there is a considerable size difference. Though the 3 series is only 18cm longer in reality (I just looked it up) which is a-lot more manageable I suppose.

Which I suppose renders this to-and-fro pointless.

Sorry Antony :p

It's not just length ... What about width ? :p

Fancied a change...

What other coupes would you suggest around 20k ish ?

Automatic a must

I'll be honest, I've no real knowledge of cars in this class, it just seemed silly to write off a car due to the size as no matter what you'll likely have to take the time out to get used to driving it. My mother did the same thing when she got a car, she completely dismissed getting an Astra as she was too used to driving a Corsa, and she got a worse car because of it.

Surely going from a 2003 320d to a 2013/2014 320d would be a big enough change? Just go to a few dealers and ask what they have in the lot for £25k and give it a test drive.

I changed from a Corsa to an A3 and for the first week the A3 felt absolutely massive.

The 2 Series is a considerably more modern car than the E46 with a far better electronic/infotainment system.

However it's not as well made inside and feels quite cheap in places. The current 3 Series more or less shared its interior with the 1 and 2 Series. The 3 has gone from being a smaller 5 Series to a bigger 1 Series imho.

The auto box in the 2 is also much better than the one in your 3.

Whatever you do don't buy a 3 coupe with this money as its the old model and replaced by the 4 Series.
