EBay - Cash on Collection

It's cash on collection not cheque on collection. Just make sure you have a way of detecting if the cash is fake. Also since the buyer is Romanian then call the Police if they turn up in a large group otherwise have a knife at standby.

Not when you can get a mac10 in under 3 minutes.

I've sold some alloy wheels on eBay and am insisting on cash on collection. Is there any risk of come back to me via PayPal claim or should I be OK?

Buyer is from Romania and sending an employee to collect, which sounds odd. I will only accept cash, as I won't have proof of postage.

He needs to tell ebay that he changed his mind, otherwise ebay will try and charge you there commission.

"When can I collect"

"Any time after six Monday to Friday as I'm at work during the day".

"Cool, so I'll burgle your house during the day then. Cheers".

Oh, and back on topic - I thought there wasn't an option for excluding PayPal as a payment method anymore?

I think they put it back when Ebay sold Paypal, could be wrong on that though.

Having said that if he specified collection only then it can't have forced him to accept Paypal as Paypal doesn't officially support collection.

I had a guy once PM me about an item he lived local to me, had loads of feedback said he would offer me said price which was higher than current bid by a fair bit, said he would collect tonight if I canceled the auction... he was at mine about 30 mins later with cash in hand, didn't care about seeing it work or anything and off he went... very strange.

Had exactly the same with a 200 pound gpu. Only thing he did know was where I lived. I wouldn't have done it

Just to update this. 2 guys came to collect in an artic, didn't check them, handed over to cash and threw them in the back. I note checked the notes (used) and all was OK. Seemed unusual to me, but I guess these things aren't as uncommon as youd imagine.

Sounds normal for an ebay collection, never had an issue over 100's of collection items as i say :) (car parts, building materials, appliances, etc)

This is no different then selling anything else regardless of eBay ... You have just used eBay as a tool to advertise your goods ... Just like mm

Sold a mobile phone years ago on eBay for £100. Buyer posted 2 x £50 notes by just standard post. Some people just take unnecessary risks.

Notes were legit and deposited into my bank before I sent the phone off.
