Travellers refused entry, win compensation!

Which brewery owns Weatherspoons?

I assumed that freehouses were independent not just of breweries but of chains, the 'spoons being a big 'pubco' chain... though I'm now not so sure - you are probably correct and I'm probably wrong. Weatherspoons probably is a freehouse.

I always thought the business was allowed to choose who they would serve. They ended up letting them in anyway. A lot of places have dress code so is that discriminating poor people who can't afford those type of clothes?

I find it silly that you can even get compensation for hurt feelings. I'd give em 3 quid compensation for the travel time it took to find another pub.

A bussiness can choose, but they can't discriminate based on age, gender, sexuality, religion, race, skin colour, culture, ethnicity etc.

Do I get compensation when travellers deny me access to a public playing field then?

So how come so many women get in nightclubs for free? but men are expected to pay.

same with dating websites someone mentioned match.com or wherever offering them a free sub because they got a lot of activity on the website

where's feminism when we need it oh wait it's a one sided deal

Tldr: you had no idea what a free house is, yet boldly declared 'it isnt'. Gotta love the confidence the internet gives people!

Just playing devil's advocate, but doesn't that encompass nearly anyone who gets turned away if they so wanted to claim they were unfairly refused entry? Surely it makes it quite easy to claim you were turned away based on discrimination rather than a valid reason?

That's my line of thinking. They didn't want them in because they looked a bit rough. That's not sterotyping. That's not discrimination. That's not wanting their business. Where is the issue?

cool so i can start sueing clubs for being refused entry for being part of a group of lads?

As others have said does this mean it'll be easier for groups of blokes to get in places now. As surly that's always been sex discrimination.

PC gone mad, we all know they're a bunch of hooligans. Well, my personal experiences with them certainly live up to the stereotype.

Attempted thefts of bikes, pitching up an entire camp metres from a main dual carriageway on private land, mugging at knife point, etc etc

Utter rubbish.

I travel all over the country during the football season and I see very little trouble in pubs.

Yeah, but do you run the pubs? Going to them once or a few times and leaving does not represent what it's like on a weekly basis.

My father worked in them and managed them for 30 years and by his experience the football groups are the worst. Even I know that and I didn't work there, I lived above them and I was a child!
That was 15 years ago, but I still live surrounded by at least 3 pubs, it never changes!
