Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

No 5.1 update, but strangely yesterday 30 apps updated themselves on my 1st gen ! That must have been every single app. All I can think of that might have triggered that was that I swapped SIM cards to a diferent provider, but I've done that before and nothing like that has happened.
 
Is it just me or has call quality jumped up today or last few days using a moto g phone. As I did read somewhere that they were going to improve moto to moto phone quality but didn't think anything of it at the time. Dunno if it's only between moto g or e to another moto g or e phone as I have a g and my mother has the e version and tonight the call quality was very high it was kinda spooky lol.

Anyone else have a similar experience from either today or last few days. We both use tesco for our phones so maybe that but I'm sure its the actual phones that caused it not the network.

Where are you based?

O2 have just launched HD Voice and providing the call parties have supported handsets you'll benefit from it.

I'd imagine Tesco would benefit from it too.
 
How have people found the quality of the 2nd Gen, specifically the 4G version?

I've just returned my third one for a full refund. The first had a large scratch and dust under the glass, the second was just a dead pixel fest with scratched speakers and the third one had dust and what appeared to be bubbles in the glass.

All were factory sealed and demonstrates appaling QC, the guy in the store reckoned he'd never seen anything like it.
 
Anyone heard anymore regarding the rumors around a third gen version being released?

Current phone has just died and was about to get a 2nd gen, so i'm wondering if i should hold out (for a few weeks going by the rumors) for the new model :confused:
 
Just got a z1 compact and hate it, gone back to my old moto G 4G 1st gen.

Only thing bugging me is when is it getting Lollipop!?

Also, the only reason I changed to a z1 was because the moto G would constantly force close apps like Spotify when trying to multitask, is this a known bug?
 
Got the 5.1 Update on my Tesco 1stGen 4G (XT1039) this morning, actually made it it a lot smoother or could be a placebo effect not sure, not sure i like the UI changes though.

Had the update this morning, initially everything ran like an absolute dog, very unresponsive, noticed google play services was attempting to update took a good 30 mins and several reboots for it to install an update then all ok.

My phone is now running perfectly loving the 5.1 update

Had a few problems with e-mails and sms initially but all good now. :)
