How do folks!

Looking for a newlaptop. It's time to retire old reliable, my 4 year old Dell XPS 17 (L701X).

Away on millitary deployment in a few months so hoping to take a laptop with me to save me from getting completely bored! The budget is slightly flexible, though bonus points for keeping within it! Any reccomendations will be warmly recieved.

Cheers!

Lenovo Y50-70, 15.6" IPS Full HD screen, i7 4720HQ, 16GB, 960m 4GB.

£899.99 on lenovo.com, nice and light too, best budget gaming laptop under £1200.

Solid bit of kit these, shame they couldn't squeeze a 970m in there.

The Proteus II on PC Specialist can be had for £995 with a 120gb SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 970m, 15.6" FHD screen, 8GB RAM, Quad Core i7 4720HQ. Would be much better for straight up gaming than the Lenovo. Can change up the SSD to a 240GB for a total of £1055

Yeah but with an inferior TN panel and much worse speakers, ugly looking machine too, yuck
