ok guys after months of pondering i am going to get me a new case case - the Phanteks Enthoo Pro.

i will be putting what i have now inside this case (cant justify spending money on a whole new system and a new case will atleast look like a new system :));-
Processor - Intel® Core™i7-2600 Quad Core.
Heatsink - Corsair H55.
Motherboard - ASUS® P8Z68-V LX.
Memory - 8GB KINGSTON.
Graphics Card - EVGA SC GTX 970.
Hard Disk - 1TB SEAGATE Barracuda.
SSD - 250GB Samsung Evo 840.
Power Supply - CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE.

i make this thread as i want some extra fans for the case. i will be buying the phanteks fans. with all the different versions of phanteks fans my head is spinning.

i can have;-
COOLING 120mm fan 140mm fan 200mm fan
- Front 2x 2x 1x (included)
- Top 3x 3x 1x
- Rear 1x 1x (1x included)
- Bottom 2x 1x
- HDD cage 2x -

i would like to have as many intakes as i can.
i will be using the fans that come with the case.
i would like one fan or two for the H55 radiator.
i would like the bottom fans spaces filled aswell.

also i would like to be able to have the fans speed controlled by the motherboard and hopefully have them silent.

can someone tell me what fans i should buy please? i will be buying on wednesday.

Hi.

Do you need more fans for the case?

if you mount the H55 on the rear then place that fan in the roof or something.

Or do you want a load of LED fans to give a ton of illumination inside the case?

For a single 970 + H55 which will already have a fan(?), I think by replacing the front 200mm with two 140s (some users have said the front 200mm isn't very good for noise), having the H55 in the rear as an exhaust and that's about it would be good. Any more exhaust would give you negative or equal pressure, for less dust buildup positive pressure is apparently better but there has been some other opinions about this

Do you already have a H55 fan or you want one more? I don't think push/pull will give you a massive difference on a thinner rad like the H55. Also, perhaps another intake in the floor and then another roof exhaust by elimination could work, but two intakes + one exhaust by way of the H55 should be plenty enough

For fan control, I think SpeedFan is a nice little tool. You can set up fan control curves, turn the fans off manually/automatically at lower temperatures, and ramp them up when under load. It's a great little program I think - I can link you to a couple of guides if you would like :)

I dont think replacing the 200mm front fan with two smaller fans is a wise idea.

The case also has a PWM hub which can control the case fans from the motherboard directly without needing software, ASUS boards have decent fan control software already.

So speed and thus sound levels can be set nicely.

thanx for the quick replies.

i didnt think of any lights, that has got my attention now as i will be buying the case with the window and it would make sense. i would like some lights on them if i they can have them, white would be best.

tbh i just wanted plenty of fans so i dont have to buy them when i get my next lot of hardware.

i have the stock fan on the H55 and tbh in the case i have now i think other than the GPU that is whats making the biggest amount of noise so would like something quieter but with similar performance maybe?

i just thought buying another 2-3 fans as intake would make for less effort needed when it comes to getting rid of the dust.

i like the blue and white fans but they only come in one size and wouldnt match with the H55 so they are out of the question.

EDIT - as you can see my system isnt very demanding heat wise so silence is the top priority.

how long for out of stock fans to be bought again?

Why would adding more smaller fans to the front over a single big one reduce dust?

i didnt say it would

i wont be replacing any of the fans apart form the stock fan on my H55, just adding extra ones thats all.

so would them LED fans be good for radiators and for airflow and will they be able to have their speeds changed?

It might be worth asking an enthoo pro owner about the front fan as from the albeit small amount of threads I have read on it and the one time I have seen it in action, the front included fan isn't very quiet, and as you want quietness as a priority then it may well be worth swapping it out for 2 140mms or 1 200mm that is of higher quality/more quiet

From what I can see there's only 3 120mm Phanteks fans, 2 of which are the same except one had a blue LED. The other fan can move slightly more air and I would recommend it for the H55.

Or the following NB eLoop fan won't be bad either for the radiator

Radiators you want static pressure fans (Corsair SP for example come in plan and LED).

I thought with this you mean reduced dust with more (more and smaller?) fans at the front?

ah ok, i see where you got that from then. i was just going off the info the case offered. i wont be adding any fans to the front. i miss read something, must be the hdd cage bit.

sticking fans on them cages wont be much benefit will it? they are in the way of the big 200mm fan if i do that arent they and would only offer a slight increase?

ok checked the corsair fan with white led for SP and its at 1.46 where as the phanteks white led fan is to big so i will add the corsair fan to my basket.

will also add a phanteks one for the bottom of my case.

i will see how it goes when it gets here. my hearing (which i think is awesome - xmen quality) may be different and i might find it acceptable. but yes i have read them posts also.

Dont add fans to the cages, no need for that.

If you really must add some do it in the roof.

Heat rises so thats the best place for any to be added.

The cases fan hub at the rear can control 5 fans from a PWM header.

ok the cages will probably be removed anyway as i only have 2 hd's.

the pwm thing is what i struggle with. so fans even though they are not pwm can be controlled by this hub as long as its in the correct port on the mobo?

Everything went out of stock last night and while they probably all will be back in stock I changed my mind on the fans lol. I'm now going for the blue and white ones from Phanteks.

So because of that change i will need a light strip. Can you suggest one please? And give me some advice on mounting the strip ie. Where and how etc.

EDIT - guna go with this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-NX

no chance mate, im not that confident yet.

even though this inst actually a "me building the computer" thing this will be my first build (taking it apart to put into another case). so the less that can go wrong the better.

just had the awful news now that the case is out of stock and it looks like it might be a long wait (more than a week atleast) for the next lot of stock...

if it had dates you could pick for delivery i would have ordered it a week or two ago. just this weekend is the only time i can guarantee i will be in (long weekend off from work - Thursday - Tuesday).

DEVASTATED - now im thinking should i go for the Luxe, but my heart was set on the Pro...
