Unless theyre watercooled i doubt it, stock fans on 1 card was bad enough, hate to think what crossfire would be like. :eek:

1 is still sitting in its box, having been used once for 30 minutes. The other I used to game and paid back its own price and half of the other one mining litecoins (only took about 4 months) - it hasn't been used for at least 9 months as I barely ever play games these days that are taxing, and often go weeks without playing games. Have a 7870xt in my system atm.

Will sell the 'new' 7990 on the members market in the coming weeks, and give away the used one to a friend.

Anyway, the 295X2 has been available under £500, and I'd expect it to hit £450 soon, to clear final stock.

I suspect the 395X2 may be very cheap towards the end of its life, both due to 14nmFF being a huge upgrade for 4xx, and because the PCB will be so much cheaper to produce and less complex to engineer.

I've posted before in this thread that 4GB of HBM will likely be that efficient that it will do for now. I worked with Joe Macri (at a distance) at DEC back in the early 90's and I can bet you my left nut with confidence that if he says it will work, it will work well.

Not long to go now in any case.

Doesn't help that intel was screwing them out of legit profits for years by doing dodgy deals with large oem's to keep amd cpu's out of their systems. AMD were dumb to take the payoff they got from intel, probably could have got something a few times bigger if they had let it run its course.

I didn't realise how long AMD have left releasing an answer to the 980.
Jesus, I really can't see how to be positive about the card, unless it's smashing a 980 and matching a Titan X.

And we surely can't be that far off the next die shrink either. Madness.

it Is getting a bit close to a proccess shrink/significant improvement to get value out of a 800$+ 28nm card.

nvidia benefited somehat for getting product out longer before the shrink

the advantage of another 28nm release is presumably real engineering advancements need to be made to deliver something better at the same process size.

My dream scenario would be if AMD sold ATi to Samsung, that way AMD could use the money to bolster their CPU development and start competing with Intel again. While at the same time Samsung could spend on GPU development and be competitive with Nvidia.

In hindsight AMD buying ATi was probably the worst thing to happen for consumers in the past decade.

Disagree,

Since AMD acquired ATI we've had some of the best GPU's. People are just getting anxious because AMD haven't put anything out for a long time.

It has been and unusually long time since AMD launched something new. When these GPU's finally get released it will go back to the norm, people saying AMD has better bang for buck and others saying Nvidia have better drivers..

Hurry up AMD !
